Cross Loader valve problem

Loader valve on my Massey 240 just started acting strange, it is the 2 lever style, bucket dump lever works fine , but the boom lever feels like its sticking, will not return to center unless moved there. I have never had a valve apart, doesn't seem like they can be too complicated. Any thing in particular or tips I can do? Any help greatly appreciated. Dave

Does it have normal "feel" to it when you push it forward and back? If not it could be a broken spring. This is accessible when you remove the plated cap at the end.

Had a brand-spanking new cross valve do that. took it back and got another one. They told me it wasn"t uncomon with a Cross brand valve. Yours could be a spring or some impurity in the valve if it worked and now doesn"t. Take it apart and blow it out. closly inspect for anyhting that would cause it to stick.

Well, Got it apart this afternoon and the end cap had a lot of corrosion in it . Seems there is a weep hole in the very center of the cap about the size of a pin. Must of let moisture in over the years. cleaned and greased everything up and had one hell of a time getting the little ball bearings and springs back in, finally got it right and I'm back in business!! thanks for the replies. Dave
