About 3pm this afternoon we started planting corn. Beautiful weather. Dust is flying. Lots of people working in the fields. Saw another planter running today. In the next couple of days everyone will start planting. In 2009 we were unable to start planting untill May 11th. That memory is going to make it pretty hard to waste any of these nice days even with it being early. Have a safe planting season everybody.

GIT-R-DONE:

Not quite the same race it was last year though - now is it! Gotta love this nice weather.
Had to pry the computer away from my daughter - she just signed up for Facebook.

PS: Say Hi to Brad Harding if you happen to cross "tractor tracks"

Planted on 4/3 and yesterday it's up. Just starting to poke through the ground. We've had such nice weather that we're a little early.
Beans are next, to keep the harvest timeing right will wait till May.
Gets to be a pain when you're tryng to get the corn off and come ready. I like the corn ready for harvest in September and Beans in November. That way I can plant Wheat in late October.

kruser what do you mean by marker on wrong side. you do know that unless you use gps guidance all planters have markers on both outside ends

Most of the time only one marker goes down at a time and most folks have the marker running where they have not planted yet so they have a mark where the center of the tractor needs to be on the next pass. From the looks of the pic his marker is running where he has already planted.

I am thinking the opposite, I think he is running the marker arm in the ground that is open yet, i think you are seeing the trenches from the field cultivator and thinking they are rows. They don't appear to be anywhere close to 30 inches apart. Be a heck of a crooked field running the marker arm down on the wrong side and besides, bill is way to good an operator to ever slip up like that.
