I have my farm rented to a neighbor. Today he planted corn in my field. Anyone else doing any planting?

Most around here was go'n pretty hard last week before the rain, many got started back today. Before the rain last week a neighbor ran pretty hard for about 4 days with 4 24 row planters, he can cover some ground!!

I will not plant mine for a few more weeks, have to hire a neighbor to harvest it and he doesn't do custom work till he is done. No reason for me to have corn ready in September.

I did get my tobacco plants home last week and they have flat grown the last two days with the sun we have had.

I hooked the tractor and planter together tonight and aimed them out the driveway. If everything would happen to go perfect, I will start tomorrow afternoon. Probably wednesday morning is more likely. I looked it up and last year we were unable to start planting untill May 11. Looks like we will start almost a month earlier and in much better conditions this year. Normally we would hope to be started by April 20th and done by May 1 here in central IL. The mood around the farm is very good with all the nice weather!

I posted couple weeks ago. We started planting corn on April 1st. We should be done saturday. Will have 2000 acres of corn in. Will take little break and do some spraying and start plantin beans towards the 25th. Got couple thousand acres of those to throw in. The corn we planted on first is coming up nice now. Not rowed yet though. Probably another week before its rows nicely. Was at coop today picking up seed and they said that they thought most people around here (Lincoln Nebraska) would be winding the corn up this week or middle of next.

What was the soil temp on that field of sw corn in MN? Our temp in SD is 52 degrees and that's in the 65% germ rate on the chart.

here in nebraska about 35mi sw of lincoln, we got started at noon on wed. notilling corn after corn. its working well. we should finish that today and then start notilling into bean stubble. we would have liked to have started earlier but we seem to have had a million little things to fix this year!
