John Deere 2010 hydraulics stopped working

Hello, I lost the hydraulics and power steering,on my John Deere 2010. It worked great and then just stopped working. I dont know what happened. Any ideas? It has enough fluid, it actually drained out about 1/2 gallon when I pulled the transmission filler cap off.

Have you cleaned the hydraulic filter lately ?Oil have a milky look ? Pump drive get disconnected ?

John Deere 2010 with hydraulic problems. The solution??? PRAY!!!! LOL Those 2010s are the worst tractor John Deere ever built. Hope that the hydraulic pump is not bad. Very expensive to buy and hard to replace through the bottom cover. We usually split the tractor to make sure we got the lines back on without damaging them.

Hello, I just bought the tractor and am not very familar with it yet. I am not sure if it has a filter, I will look today. Oil is normal coloration. How do you connect or disconnect the pump drive? Thanks for any help.

There is a piece of metal with a 90 degree bend in it on the floorboard that attaches to lever on hyd pump so pump can be disengage/engaged. Also metal filter screen can get plugged and require a good washing.

I worked on 2010 about a year ago, no hyd. I found the splines bad on shaft fron clutch. Had to use used parts. New not available. Filter is under a cover right side under step.

I just worked on an IH where the hydraulics stopped working. Filter was clogged solid. Cleaned it and everything was ok.

Thanks, mine does not appear to have one. I found what you are refering to in the operators manual, but it is not on my tractor. I removed the cover on the bottom of the tractor where the rod would go through from the foot rest. There doesnt appear to be anything visible that can be adjusted

I found the hydraulic filter and it was pretty clean, a few very small pieces of metal shavings, but otherwise clean.

Does it have a PTO, and, if so, does the PTO function... the PTO shares the same drive as the hydraulic pump.

Hydraulic oil filter can look good and still interrupt flow. I would try a new filter and new hydraulic oil. I had a 2010, don't want another one. The collectors can have them.

2010 hydraulic "filter" is a brass SCREEN that gets cleaned, rather than replaced (unless torn or damaged).

That there seems to be your problem. There should be an engagement shaft going through the left side of the bellhousing (as seen from the driver's seat). This shaft is used to disengage the hydraulics to ease in starting the 2010s in colder months. Then, once the tractor has warmed up, you turn off the tractor, engage the hydraulics, crank it, and away you go.

It sounds like the lever from your tractor has fallen out. All that would prevent it from coming out is a roll pin, inside the bellhousing, and the lever through the foot rest.

When I bought my 2010, it did not have the lever that went through the footrest, just the shaft to the pump that someone had tied up to keep it engaged.

Hello,
Thanks for the idea, but I looked where the rod would go through the housing and I cannot see where there is a place for it to connect to anyhting. I pulled off the plate that you remove to grease the bearing on the clutch. Am I looking in the wrong place?

From JD Parts.com, the shaft I am referring to is Item 31. It attaches to a small shaft coming out the side of the hydraulic pump.

In this picture, you can see the shaft that you should be looking for on the hydraulic pump.

Good Luck

Hello, the area where the pin is supposed to come out is sealed up. It looks like a flat piece of metal across the hole with JB weld or a hard epoxy around the edges. It doesnt look like the pin sheared off.
