Found some neat old stuff when doing do. The guy that had owned it died not long ago at the age of 95 and boy did he have some neat old things. I have what I think is a heat type thing for raising chicken that screw into a light socket but it is a cone shape on ceramics and has wire like you see in a electric heater on it. Also got a one man cross cut saw and a sprayer that hook up to a vacuum cleaner and a lazy Susan thing that is about 6 foot tall old military thing and is made for holding things like bolts etc

I hope to post pictures of the finds in a day or 2. We got a good number of things from this guys place. 2 tractors 2 Mott mowers a Frazer tiller and the list goes on and on. Took use 3 or 4 trips to get it all and we left a bunch of junk behind

The "heating element" that you found likely has a screw base that fits a normal light socket. It is an element or a replacement element for what was a common bathroom heater from the 40's or earlier. They are about 500 up to 1000 watts. Those heaters had a large polished metal reflector to direct the heat - radient style - to the person in front and to heat the bath room.
These elements can be dangerous if used without the proper reflector.
P S I still use one of those heaters as a pump house heater and they are effective.

thats great old, and its really nice to hear from you again . a lot of people were worried if you were ok because they hadnt heard from you. You were missed by a lot of people Best of luck to you and your family and thank your son from all of us the very best of luck to him also

Back in the late forties Electrolux made a sprayer for their vacuum. I used it to paint a 34 Chev. pickup with black enamel paint. It worked fairly good not too speedy if I remember right.

Hi, does your lazy Susan parts bin look like this?

Interesting article about one of these, over on www.OWWM.com

Bye for now,

Nope nothing like that one this one has open holes and spins on a pipe with a concrete base and believe me that base is heavy and was not fun to load

My mom used to have a spray thing that hooked to the vacuum, now that I think of it. Seems to me it had a glass jar hanging on the bottom of it. Now I wonder where that thing went to? Jim

Yep this one has a glass jar on it that says Electrolux so I figure that is the brand of the vacuum cleaner that made it. I know it has to be old, but how old I do not know

One is/was a 1939 Farmall A that is broke up from rolling down a hill and hitting a tree and the other is a Super A that runs good is still 6 volts and has a wood belly mower under it

Good to hear - in a way - that I'm not the only one that lets tractors roll down hills into things.....

Well I do not know the whole story on it but from what I was told the guy got off the tractor to pick up something that was in the way and turned his back on it. When he turned back around all he saw was the A rolling down the hill and picking up speed. It stopped when it hit a tree and broke the torque tube and the block where it bolts to the torque tube. The back of the block is a mess but the insides are still good so maybe I can make 1 good engine out of 2 since I have a locked up B

I hopped off my Ford 860 for a few seconds to do the same, had it sideways on the hill and was hurrying a bit (always watch for that!), so I didn't bother to lower the blade. Next I knew it had turned itself downhill and was picking up speed straight for the new shop and overhead door. Fortunately I had parked a bigger tractor sideways in front of that door that morning, and the 860 nailed the rear wheel dead center. Not a scratch on the JCB, but the poor Ford's entire hood went back about 5", taking out the steering column and a lot of sheet metal. Could have been much worse, and now the Ford's gonna have power steering!

I would say early to mid fifties and they were made for fly spray and the like for in the house. I still have one. When I was very young Grandma had a salesman for rebuilt Electrolux come out and demenstrate one, did not buy because it did not work as should. Had new ones of different brand and it worked good so that is what she bought but She also bought that Electrolux sprayer, tried it a couple of times and gave up on it. Still have that sweeper as well.

heavy? dont you claim to have a bad back and be disabled?

or is that just to the people handing out goverment welfare checks?

In the days of those ceramics I think the chicken brooders used small kerosene lamps in a cone to transmit the warmth down to the birds.Yours may be the then modern progression.

I have an old ceramic light switch. The casing is ceramic but the switch itself is metal, when turning it over the switch is too close to the wires for my comfort, would not use it now,What we didn't know?
