Never again!

I bought a used truck last year that had brand new tires from Canadian Tire on it. One tire got a screw in the sidewall and I had to replace it. I was told at that time, that the tire itself wasn't warrantee but because the tires are exclusive to Canadian tire, rotation and flat repairs are still covered. I needed a tire repaired this morning. I called at 8:20 and asked if they were busy as I had an appointment downtown at 10 am. I was told they could have it repaired well before 10 so I drove there to get it repaired. Not only wouldn't they honour any warrantee for a repair, I didn't get the truck back until 9:50 and had to cancel my appointment. They said they only had one guy that did tires and oil changes. Why didn't they tell me that they only had one guy and why does the warrantee policy seem to change to suit them??? I could have gone to another tire shop or got the tire fixed after my appointment. It was only a slow leak. I will never go back there for any kind of work what so ever. I'd rather have someone tell me they're busy than say they can do something quick and then take a lot longer. I think the guy fixing the tire was almost done and then took a coffee break at 9:30 instead of driving the truck outside. He was in the process of putting the lug nuts on. There was another customer that was really ticked off with them as well. Dave

i have seen these situations many times and it makes me boil. instead of finishing 2-5 minutes work their itching for there coffee break.to me finish the job then have coffee while the service manager is lining you up another job. use your time wisely.some one else has to do their thinking, just like the future repairs will be a robote or computer speaking to you and giving step by step instuctions instead of using your own thinking cap.

Bought a new set of Canadian Tire brand best touring tires for our car a few days before we went to visit the folks in AZ. They started to shake a bit so I had them rebalanced in Great Falls. Didn't help. By the time we got to Phoenix we were down to 80kmh so I had them checked at a tire shop. Two of the tires had gone bad and needed to be replaced. I called back to the Canadian Tire store and inquired as to what arrangements Canadian Tire had made with a tire outfit in the USA to take care of any warranty issues. None. They told me I would have to bring the tires back. I bought a complete set of Michelens and left the crappy tires behind.

At that time, I was in charge of a fleet of 20 vehicles and had been getting Canadian Tire to do the service work as well as supply tires when needed. When I got back home I spoke the service manager in person and informed him that all vehicles I was responsible for would no longer be serviced at Canadian Tire nor would they be selling anymore tires to us.

Small wonder why the term "Crappy Tire" is used when referring to that company.

I was under the impression you were in MI... sorry to hear about your ordeal. I've been informed from previous shop employees that the mechanics get a commission on any "fries with that" extras they can sell you. I haven't been back since I heard that one.

Maybe the best way to complane is go directly to the Mgr. Just maybe he's not aware of what happened to you.......Jim in N M

These are expensive General Evertrek tires that are exclusive to Canadian tire. Crappy tire is right. When I had to replace the one tire I couldn't get a sale price they had because the sale ended a week and a half ago and they will only go back 1 week. When I phoned the customer service line, I was told it wasn't store policy but a store could use their own discretion. What the heck kind of a policy is that? If the tires came from there, they should honour the warrantee that was paid there regardless of who bought the tire originally. How could they prove that the tire I bought wasn't the one with the leak? It's pretty sad for sure. Dave

I was on the road to buy some grain at 9 am. tree trimmers were just starting work.On the way back the trucks were parked at a general store.10 miles down the road more trucks were parked at a general store across from my house.at 10.30 and no trees have been trimmed yet. When do they actually work work.A state crew had 6 men watching 1 man replacing a stop sign.

Some places are like that. Years ago my wife stopped at Walmart to have a low tire repaired. It wasn't a really fast leak, but fast enough she needed to have it repaired before coming home. We had bought the tire from them (that was our first mistake). There was a lump in the sidewall of the tire and they said that they couldn't repair a tire with such an obvious defect. They wouldn't even put air in it. She called me asking if she should get the tire replaced?!?!?! After I came down off the ceiling, I said,"No, why would we want to do that?" She told me what they said, and up to the ceiling I went again! Long story short, she got a can of fix-a-flat and made it home just fine. Next day we took it to our local tire guy and had it patched. We drove on that tire for six more months before it got bad enough to replace (property taxes are low around here, and the roads look like it!). Never have gone into the tire department of a Walmart since, except to use the bathroom.

There are only a few tire companys still in business. So right at the beginning the tire was just a tire manufactured with that name on it by one of the few tire companys. You are probably better off guarantee wise buying a Bridgestone,Michelen,Goodrich,Firestone or Hankook,or some major brand name if you want a guarantee, and even then it will suck if you have to use it and it amounts to mostly the dealer. Some are better than others. The good guys are so busy you cant usually get in quick. So you would wait probably.
Who knows what somebody answering the phone might say.Im sure they are told to tell customers to bring it in,the schedule might not work that good, but they probably want as many customers as they can get.
Then maybe some time you might hit them at the right time and get in and out quick.Who knows?

Not much you can do to change the way they do things. So, just tell them you are unhappy and the reason why and, you will be spending your money else where.

I wouldn't fix a tire with a lump in the sidewall either, what a risk from the liability point of view. It could be fine forever, or blow out 1/2 mile down the interstate and kill someone, why be a tight a$$ on safety.

Why would blowing out a tire kill someone? In over 40 years of driving I"ve had quite a few blown tires, both front and back, plus many a trailer tire.I simply slowed down, pulled over to the side of the road, and changed them.

Just a couple of years ago I blew out the right front tire on a 2 ton grain truck at 60 mph.I was loaded with nearly 400 bushels of corn and it didnt cause me to lose control of the truck

I do not deal with canadian tire anymore unless it is a last resort. The service department is a joke. I had a GMC pickup that was only a year old that I took in for a quick oil change and they told me my brakes were worn out. It had 10 000 kms on it. Actually as a high school student I worked for them and what I saw was an eye opener. A lady brought in a Fiero for brakes and when it was done a tire boy was told to take out to the car wash. The guy couldn't drive stick. When she came to get it she was told her clutch went and she was lucky it wasn't her driving. She paid for a clutch. At one point canadian tire was a good store but now it's just a hardware version of walmart. PS all their new store tools are made in china...

At work if we find somebody did a clueless diagnosis and repair job. Via wild guess and random replacement of parts.
We call it "Canadian Tire trouble shooting".

You had 400 bushel on a 2 ton truck?!? Either you're a liar or you ARE gonna kill someone someday.

You know, overloaded trucks are one of the reasons our roads go to crap. Then you complain about the workers out there fixing the damage for which you're responsible.

you do realize that most of the people on the road today would crap themselves before ever thinking of safely pulling over. oh and 400 bu in a 2 ton truck??? your an accident waiting to happen... let me know which roads your drive to warn my family

cdl and farmerboy, neither of you sound like you know much of anything about trucks.A proper setup and WB grain truck(600,650,700:60,65,70) can legally haul 400 Bu.or more all day long. This has been common since the late 1940s.

depends what you call a two ton truck. I don't call a 33k gvw a 2 ton truck. and my definition of two ton truck is hydraulic brakes. maybe you don't know what hills are or suburbanites slamming brakes on in front of you.

I call a F-6 or 600 or Chev.C60-65, 26-28K a 2 ton truck.and a lot of other people have hauled 8-10T loads of Coal out of the mines back when we heated with coal with no worrys .A few years ago when more people farmed,a lot of F-500s and C-50s were hauling 400 to 450 Bu. loads. It isn't just farm trucks but better then half of the Van or whatever 2T trucks are carrying 7 to 10T payloads every day.

375 bu on a 1800 IH (heavy 2 ton) with 10x20 tires and 16 ft
bed..Its 6 miles to the elevator with very little traffic.I"m one of the
lighter 2 ton trucks that comes in.A friend has 425 bu on a C-60
Chevy.During harvest we get 10% over on a 30,000 liscense.Lots
of the semis are close to 100,000.
