Let's be careful out there

As the headlong rush of spring is now here, lets all take a moment to remind ourselfs to not get complacent about safety. An hour and a half ago, I was walking in from the Machine shed and heard a helicopter. I recognized it to be the Medivac. I also saw it was slowing and decending. I jumped in the truck to see what was up. A neighbor has the local manure pit pumpers in. They were loading tankers with one tractor and agitating with two more. Somehow, something went wrong in one of the pumps used for agitating. somehow, a valve leaked or opened, causing the capped discharge pipe to become pipe to become preasurized on its storage rack. The preasure shattered a connecting clamp and shot a ten foot section if pipe through the back window of the tractor cab, hitting the operator. I hesitate to repete the sequence of events that I was told followed, as while I trust the scorce, I feel that they are a little to unbelavable to repete. All I can say is that I was told the operator was alive when taken to the chopper. So lets all send prayrs for the young man, and do all that we can to have a safe spring.

That sounds like a mechanical malfunction that all the care in the world would not have prevented. Thoughts and prayers are with him anyway.

A medevac chopper often flys over our house flying into the local hospital. I always say a short prayer whenever I hear it. Farming is one of the most dangerous jobs you can do outside the military. We all need to take good care of ourselves.
My thoughts are with the operator.

I have waited for that chopper to land with my mother on it headed for ICU. I will never get the fear out of my mind when I see one.

have two aircare units fly over my place all time, on average I would say between the two it would be at least one or the other evey other day anyway. you always know somebody needs help

Hope that Gods will be done quickly.

It has only been a few years since our local hospital got helicopter ambulance service. I have to wonder how we ever got along without it as it is so busy.

I am near flight paths for anything west of the city so hear most runs. Most runs are during similar times of the day, meaning they are headed to traffic accidents related to pre work and post work driving.

Hang up the phone and drive alert folks, accidents are just waiting to happen.
