The power stearing on my John Deere 520 is jaming and when
at idle it won't center. It continues to turn eather right or
left untill it hits the stop and then starts to drag on the engine.
Are there adjustments that can be made or is it in need of an
overhaul? I've had some experience working on the tractor but
I'm not a machanic. Is this something a novice could tackle or
do I need to take it to a good shop.If anyone out there has had
experience with this I would appreaciate any advice you can
offer.

The way we did the centering this steering when I worked for Deere dealership in 50"s was to have the tractor sitting with both brakes locked, front end jacked up. loosen the bolts holding the valve to the side of the pedstal slghtly so it can be tapped back or forward with hammer.Start tractor, but be sure you don"t have hands on the steering wheel! With the tractor idling gently tap the valve housing forward or backward to center it and then lock it down with the bolts when you center it..
