Hi Guys,

I should be out tending my cows, but no. Here I am playing with this new fangled toy. Think my little pee-brain has finally figured out the video thing.

Anyhoo, I've put up a couple of shots of my corn-pone music on youtube. You can access 'em by just doing a search of Mrunit7 (on youtube) or click the following link. Should take ya there. Hope ya like 'em.

Thanks,

Allan

Oh, them danged kids and that modern music.....Cain't go nowhere to get away from 'em....

Jes joshin. I'm impressed.

Thanks, Allan! I liked both the Polka and the "Countrified" waltz.
And, goo to see you back on this site some - -been missing you, Nebraska Cowman, Sloroll, Harley, and always, the Hugh...

Take care!
John

Allan, That was great! Now when are you going to sing along with your guitar? I know, you figure Kenney Chesney needs another year or two to get a nest egg put away or we'll have to be supporting him and George Strait.

Hi Neighbor!

All is good here' right in the middle of calving and you know all too well what that entails. Thanks for the kind words, Pard.

Means a lot coming from the "home folks". :>)

Allan

WOW!
Let us know when you "and the band" play closer to Illinois. Gonna have to round up the gang and get tickets.

Jim

Oh,

One of these days, I'll screw up my courage a notch and record one for you folks.

Still pretty intimidated with that silly guitar/video-camera/combination at this point. :>)

Allan

Thanks a bunch, Jim.

If you go to the youtube site, you can "subscribe" while at one of my videos and they'll automatically send ya a notification when the new uploads hit the bricks.

Thanks again Pard,

Allan

Hey, that was a mighty nice toe tappin' performance there. Sure enjoyed it, and thanks for sharing!

That's great playing. You made a comment about "being on the road". Did you play professionally in a band in the past? I like the old polkas, waltzes, schottisches, some bluegrass, country and gospel music. We entertain some in Assisted Living places and Nursing Homes in South Central Minnesota. Seems to be plenty of "musicians" around here. I think I remember that you mentioned banjo in a previous post some years back. Do you play banjo too? I play mostly rhythmn guitar, but am trying to learn fiddle and recently started on fretless electric-acoustic bass. Seems too much for a retired brain to comprehend, but I'm hoping it will keep me "young". I'm kind of a "techy" and I'm interested to know what the "gadget" (pickup) on your guitar is, brand name and model number. Thanks Ron

Hey Allan those are really great. It takes a lot of practice to play like that. Only one thing disturbs this old man you did not look like I had you pictured in my mind. Just better looking. Hmm

Just sittin here listening with a silly grin on my face. Not too bad for an old cowboy.
I enjoyed every note.

Ron, where you at exactly? I have many relatives that play in polka bands around New Ulm. My cousin and his family make up the Danes Duchman band. Another cousin and her husband play in the Leon Olson band. And yet another cousin and his brother in law play in the Marv Nissel band. All the musical talent in the family went into their genes. I have none.

Great stuff, Allan! I noticed you were changing "instruments" in the synthesizer "on the fly"- did you go back and do that later, or is there something (like a foot pedal) that we couldn't see?

Had a "session" with #1 son yesterday, when we tired of the easter egg coloring- the skills guys like you and him have on the guitar always amaze me. I'm a singer, but not a picker. Son is both- wish I was.

Mike

I'm in Waseca County. I've heard both the Leon Olson band and Marv Nissel band play. Like them both.

Hi Mike,

I use midi to trigger my background sound and like ya say, it is all happening "live" and on the fly. I have one tiny, little foot-switch with one function: to start the whole she-bang in motion.

I just drop a trigger-call into the sequence chain and that way I don't ever have to worry about it. The synth knows what voice I want, where and when.

Same with the harmony on the vocals. When I'm on the bandstand, it is just exactly like playing with real players.......well, except all of us up there are sober and ready to work. :>)

Downside is that it is expensive. Darned replacement guitar cord alone will run $80. :>(

Hi Ron,

Oh yeah, I was out there "mean and lean" for about 5 years. Worked for the Richard Lutz agency.

I call those my "travelin'" years. :>)

The 'gizmo' is a Roland guitar synth. When ya play solo, ya gotta have all the instruments ya can get yer hands on.

I don't use it much anymore tho. Folks tend to hear with their "eyes" and when they hear that horn (or whatever) sound coming from a guitar, they fer some reason, just assume it's "canned" or pre-recorded. :>(

Allan

Yes Sir, will do.

Just like a derned kid with a new toy. Sure is a heck of a lot of work tho. :>(

Allan,

Sorry for the late post, but I believe this is the first time your face has appeared on YT, without being in the reflection of a cab windshield or mirror.
You have always been like the neighbor on "Tool Time". The mystery is gone. Now everyone knows what you look like.
