I'm downsizing and plan to haul small stuff with a gooseneck trailer, What electric winch 8k or over is the best deal? I've had name brand winches that didn't have good warranties/repair service. Any reccomendations?

i been running a Harbor Freight 8k# winch for last 5 years...no problems yet...i been surprized how well its held up.

If you want to haul 4000lbs with an electric winch. Either purchase a 8000lb winch or use a cable pulley to half the speed on a 4000lb winch.

After burning up a couple of cheap harbor freight winches, I picked up an old warn 8274. It is an 8k winch but pulls extremely fast (~70 feet per minute no load) so I can easily double the line pull with a pulley block and still pull fast enough that it doesn't take all day.

You'll probably like that Warn Tabor... I've had the XD9000 for about three years now, have loaded everything under the sun with it. Made a quick adapter for swapping from the trailer to the truck receiver hitch, usually pack it around on the truck in Jan. and Feb. and yank folks out of the ditches with it when the weather falters.

I've got a 12000 pound warn on my 30ft trailer and it's to small. It will barely pull a 5000 pound tractor on my trailer and won't hold in place if i stop pulling on an incline.

Then there is something wrong with your winch. My 8k has dragged well over 11k lbs rolling onto the trailer without doubling the line back.

My buddy has a warn 12k on his trailer and works good.

I have a mile marker 12k, died after 3rd use, took 3 months to get factory to send parts, after several calls and 2 years still haven't gotten my wireless controller back yet, but winch is still holding up.

We both use them at least a couple times a month with dead machinery, I would go with the warn
