Update on mahindra 2003 Model E-350 DI NOT charging... was told by one dealer that theres probably a FUSE LINK on the back of the Alt behind plastic cover, I have it where i can See that, but locate No fuse, anyone Point me in the direction of the problem. Thanks Larry KF4LKU

your mechanic is probably refering to a fuseble link not a fuse, A fuseable link is a wire that is designed to act like a fuse and will burn out if overloaded, you will need to look for a wire that will likely have a wrinkled appearance if it has burned out, other wise you will need to use a VOM to locate the wire. to replace you will need to buy a roll of fusible link wire of proper gauge and then cut a piece to the same length as what is there now and splice it in.

Thanks handyman for reply,, Do You have first hand Info on these alternators in particular, I have the back plastic cover off the Alt, theres a Yellow wire and Red one it didnt appear to me as being a fuse link,BUT i may not know what to look for! I do have Vom Experience in Television Servicing. any other help I'm all ears thanks Larry

I have never seen a Mahindra let alone work on one but I have experienced the joys of Fusible links in the past. they can be hard to find and real fun to fix depending on where its been hidden, engineers seem to like putting them in strange places.

all a fusible link is,is a size smaller wire inline
ex: 12 gauge will usually have a 14 gauge link with insulators where joints are...could be black rubber round blocks or just heat shrink tubing.

are you sure belt isnt slipping...my Mahindra 6000 wont start charging when cold till i goose engine up around full throttle too.

Larry, From my experience a fusible link is usually 3-4 inches long. The outside diam is a little larger than the wire that it is attached to due to different insulation and it is more flexible due to wire being lighter gauge, and it will be a different color.
