grain prices the last two weeks. Yikes

unless there are some weather catastrophe's I cant see prices rebounding too much in the short term. Really glad I contracted a while back during the peak. I think there is alot more corn out there stored than they even figured. Sure seems to have given the feeder prices a boost! I also am suprised at how many people have passed on the great prices the last couple years to sell some stored grain. Have a neighbor that filled his bins two years ago when prices were still high. Spoke with him the other day and he said he wont sell at the se prices, ut thats what he said when corn was close to $5 dollars, he was hoping for six. Not sure what will turn out as he has his bins rented out effectiuve the end of october and he will have to empty them by then. May be an interesting year.

Yea, I think it will be a down year. My instincts were good to sell ahead; but I tended to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to make any sales, so only have a small amount of 2010 crop sold...

while this is bad news for you grain guys. it is good news for me as a dairyman. i wish both milk prices and grain prices would be more stable. it would allow all farmers to plan better and make money

I sold about half of the corn. With my light soils I didnt want to get caught with out the grain. Soybeans I havent priced anything yet. Just gonna ride the summer and get a crop and see what the prices are , or just put them in a bin. May even back off the acres and do some oats, aint worth nothing but the demand for the straw has really came up with the dairy's being turned away from the shavings. Seems ehtanol plants are buying most of it these days.

Yes, has been very rough for you guys. Have a few friends in the dairy , hasnt been good. Will be seeing alot of auctions this fall, sad.

Yea - dairy & hog folks have had it tough, a lot of hogs & a close neighbor is in dairy, it's good if your feed proces drop a little.

My concern is the seed & fert & fuel prices, with emissions mandates too, our grain inputs are looking to get terrible high - I wonder what is in store for all of us in this together?
