Things like Epsom salts for the matos. Or how about ground up egg shells. Or things like winter wheat in the fall for green manure.
Now any more I do a thing called a square foot garden with raised beds like the 2 I built as in 1 a day which is bad since they are only 3X8 foot and it took me 2 days to build and fill them.

Elbon cereal rye adds more humous to soil than anything else i've tried...had to turn it over with a plow...tiller couldnt chop sod it made up.

some shots of mt square foot beds they are very good for early vegs because they are able to work in before the big garden can be tilled ,. I have lettuce onoins radishes spinach and swiss chard growing in them now . We grew a lot of nice lettuce last season.

Mulching tomatoes with hairy vetch enhances their flavor, provides greater nutrition, and gives the plants more vigor. Link below.

To get a jump on planting use a couple of dark colored bricks, a multi-liter bottle of colored water, or something similar to a Wall-O-Water or Kozy Coat around tomatoes plants, then put a tomato cage around the plant and heat sink and wrap the cage in shrink wrap but ventilate at the top.

If you don't mind the use of chemical products use cross linked polyacrylamides, a water holding product, to help even out watering and moisture available to plants. With moisture always available to the plant the result is less stress and greater yields. I have known of one corn stalk to produce 7 ears of sweet corn, many others 6. It is expensive so don't bother thinking about it for field crops.

A 1 lb. box of CLP will absorb a barrel of water. Similar product used in disposable diapers.

Foliar applications of micro-nutrients yields produce of higher nutrition, higher quality, and often provides higher yields.
Vetch for mulch.

Today is the day. Place taters on top of the ground and cover with lots of straw.Dig taters in the late summer.

I grow hot peppers on the outer edge of my garden. I don"t eat a lot of them, but I let them dry and grind them up in a food processor. then I use the ground hot peppers to dust the corn and other plants to keep the deer and racoons away. It"s worked so far.

It adds magnesium to the soil and tomato's seem to like it. My dad every year would put a heaping table spoon of it in the bottom of the hole for his plants. I have also been told it help with that blite thing
