Old tractor, fragile copper fins, small hole, ...you get the picture. Can I use hot melt to repair? Silicone? JB Weld? .....or other suggestions? Don't really want to take the whole thisg out...harad to do...on DC CASE with heavy grill.

I don't think any of them will work, but, if you can get it real clean and dry, I'd go for JB weld.

However......... The cheap powder (small flakes) stopleak and or black pepper work wonders for small leaks.

you won't believe this . I bought a old oliver 66 as a parts tractor the radiator had a leak looked at it and it had had other leaks that were filled with grout. the fins were separated and grout poured in . It worked because the grout didn't leak it was another hole.

I've had reasonable luck with silicone caulk. I wouldn't consider it a long term solution. But it's quick, easy, cheap, doesn't corrode, and will hold up to vibration.

Hot-glue might melt at temperature.

Once I had a mishap on the pulling track and I was able to squeeze the tube together and almost stop the leak. Then a friend who is in the equipment repair business gave me a little tube of some stop leak powder that completely stopped the leak. It was a GM product.

i used jb weld a couple springs ago after i drilled in the wrong place andput a hole in an a/c line under the jd 6420 floor. sand paper and put on jb . it has held pressure for 2 years.

The best we have use is a polymer that really stops the leak but does not plug up the cooling system. Go to www.conklin.com/ listed under automoive cooling. Called Dike. Use it a lot.

Seen an episode on Macgyver (years ago) where he put raw eggs in a radiator in a junk jeep and drowe it and himself to safety. lol. Seriously. have it repaired right, if you are going to continue using the tractor, other wise a patch will fail just when you need the tractor. LOU

I've seen some rednecks, (hope I dont offend anyone) use a tin of Chewing Tabacco. Kinda the same as the black pepper thing but dont know if I'd do it on mine.

I used silicone with real good results. I rinsed the radiator really well on the tractor with clean water and let dry. Then I filled a needle with silicone gasket sealant. Injected the silicone up and down the tube and crimped to tube shut. Hasn"t leaked a drop. Every time I try to use JB weld it cracks out with vibration.

Worked for me... Good luck.

Silicon or JB weld will work but embed a small piece of window screen to reinforce it. Keep everything as clean as posible.

I have had hot glue melt inside a car on a hot sunny day. So my concern would be it would melt on radiator.
I have used green body putty to plug holes in rad on my wood hauling special. Has lasted for 5 or more years . Not the recommended fix but worked for me. JB I think would work too.
