I had one of those and used it for about 10 years in my 1/4 Acre garden back in Illinois. It was a fine tool and helped make Gardening fun.
Sold it for a few dollars less than I paid for it at our going to arizona yard sale.Don't garden out here. tried when i first came out here 10 years ago but finally gave up. poor ,rocky ,dry ground. No nutrients and no moisture no matter how much water you run on it and as i have to buy the water i gave up and resigned myself to eating store bought stuff. Sure is poor quality produce in the stores out here but we have no choice.Love it or leave it i guess,Arizona that is.

That is an Earthway brand of planter. Been around for several decades and still in production.

For the price they are an okay planter. I prefer to think of a planter purchase as a lifetime investment, prefer, and am willing to spend more in order to get a precision planter so that I don't have to thin so many crops.

I have owned an Earthway and also a Lambert of similar design. I actually preferred the Lambert because of the hopper design.

I finally just rid of both of them as I'd rather plant by hand for greater accuracy (less thinning).

To each their own and if it works for you why not use it and be happy.

For those that prefer a step up I really like the YouTube video and the product literature on the Jang JP1 push planter. It is about 3 times the cost but appears like it would provide much greater precision planting.
Just one sales company for them.

I've used one of these for 30 years. Some crops it is very good(radishes, carrots, beans, cabbage, lettuce, etc.) but not so good with corn. For some crops like beets, carrots, and cabbage you have to go over the same row a couple of times to get a good stand, but it does work. All I've ever done to mine is replace the drive belt. The row marker is worthless, throw it away.

I like the Easy-Plant Jab Planter from Johnnys Selected Seeds for large seeds like corn, bean or pumpkins. I can control the depth and spacing of the seeds without bending over. It's a little expensive but will last 2 lifetimes.

I have one and like it okay except it seems like the handle is in an awkward position, or needs more weight on the back wheel to keep it down.

I have used one like that for 20 years.....a couple of weeks ago I found a nice David Bradley seeder that is much older and hooks to the DB tractor...it has steel seed plates and is made of steel and cast iron, but uses the same principle. Now I just have to find a DB tractor to mount it to.

Don't have that problem with one, I have to go both ways on the row to get enough seed on for me.
