I find Pedal Steel Guitar music very relaxing. David Hartley has a lot of songs on you tube. Playing the pedal steel is his hobby. I just wanted to share this with you.

My wife likes to watch this Esteban who sells steel guitars on TV. He wears a black hat and glasses , looks like Zorro. She keeps talking about buying one. He's got the amp and everything with it and it's like $180.Played the bass guitar myself in my teens. Wasn't particularly gifted at it.

Bill, she can easily find a better guitar than those sold by Esteban. A guy I know bought one, and it's almost un-playable. A cheap guitar from a local established music store would be more enjoyable. Take a guitar player with you to help pick one out. Buy his lunch - money well spent. Call ahead and maybe someone will put on a black hat and dark glasses ;~)

Hey Bill,

Gotta agree with Paul; sounds like pure snake oil to me.

A good, decent guitar set up right will cost in the neighborhoood of $2500. Hate to think what a quality steel would set ya back.

Heck, a used case will easily cost $100 providing ya can find one for that.

Allan, those Esteban's aren't really steel guitars, they're just a steel-strung flattop...and not much of one at that from everything I've read. The acoustic guitar forums used to be full of posts makin' fun of old Zorro and the cardboard guitars he was pushing on his infomercials. Pretty much everyone agreed with what the other poster on here said- they're pretty much unplayable.
