8n Ford rear wheels

I have a 1951 8n that has power adjust rear wheels size 12/28. One of the rims is rusted through and needs replaced. I am informed that the tractor did not come out with these on it. I bought it some time ago and would now like to change the rims to the standard type and use the centers and the existing tires. Will the centers work okay for this, and can I use the same brackets?

Power adjust centers are different, the centers for the orignal wheels are a 2 piece type to give you the adjustment for wheel tread. The power centers move in groves in the rim to do that.

You are correct. 8Ns were not originally equipped with power adjust rims.

Your 8N originally had round dished centers with drop center, so-called hat rims bolted to the centers with 6 bolts. The original tire size was 10x28, currently 11.2x28.

The original hat style rims are becoming a bit hard to find and are usually replaced with readily available 6 loop style rims.

You will need to change wheel centers to revert back to the 6 loop style replacement rims. Either the original 8N style circular centers or the more common scalloped style Ford centers used on 1955 and later Ford tractors will work.
