My father gave my a Leatherman Wave for Christmas about 6 years ago +- and it says USA. If you mean brand new today, Im not sure.

Mine sez USA in two places..... Carried it daily for years. Abused it regularly. Still in good workable condition. Thanks to the guy who lost it on the street in Greenville, MI about 10 years ago. Nicest gift a perfect stranger has left me, bar none!

Greatest tool ever made, I have two of them. One I carry and a spare for when I have to send one in. Real ones are made in the USA, but lots of imported copies.

There is a website called publicsurplus.com where the airports sell all the ones they take from people at security. Swiss army knives too, typically 10 or 20 to a lot.

I've had leathermans ever since they started making them. I've lost a few, and have broken a few,... so here's a strange story about one of my leathermans.
While living in interior Alaska, I ordered a Leatherman Super-Tool from Cabelas by mail order. A few months later I broke one of the Super-Tool's jaws so I sent it to Portland Oregon for replacement (or to be fixed). About 2 weeks after that, I received it back (unfixed) with a note that said,.... "Not ours.",... the strange thing was the note looked as if it had been written in pencil by a 4-year old. :?

On my next trip to Fairbanks, I took the broken Super-Tool with me, I went into a sporting goods store that carried Leathermans and asked them if they would replace it with one from their display case and they said "YOU BET".

60 seconds later I walked out the door with a brand new Super-Tool. :D

I still wonder to this day, what exactly the "deal" was when I sent the broken tool to it's place of manufacture and WHY they sent it back saying it wasn't theirs. It definitly had "LEATHERMAN SUPER TOOL" stamped on both sides of it (complete with trade-marks and "PORTLAND OR"). :? :? :? :?

I'm sure when I'm dead and buried, my wife will make sure I have a "leatherman" in my pocket. LOL

I know of several people that have the leather man tools, but I prefer the Gerber version. The ;pliers are what I use most often, and all it takes is a flick of the wrist to have it ready on the Gerber. Also USA made and lifetime warranty.

I caught one of those "how it"s made" shows on cable one night. They showed how they make them and it was pretty impressive. USA made and a lot of by hand work.

The water tower painting crew my son used to work for made every man carry a super tool. I have three, and they only replaced one, that time it certianly from abuse.

My son had it replaced without my knowledge, as I would never even try for a replacment because it was pure abuse.

The only thing I hate about them is the sharp edges that rip up a pocket. I can not have another item on my belt --it is full, and It's a long way around me.

Mine all say USA if I recall correct, as I watch that kinda stuff usualy. Mine are all fifteen years old plus.

I was watching some dumb show several years ago, and they happened to use the Leatherman tool as a example. The guy pointed out (by having several sales books) that prices were based on zip codes, with a wide price range. Sorry, I do not recal what sales book it was in.

I do recal the midwest was the better price however.

Leatherman are the best I have found. They are North American made and use Solidworks for design as do I. I say North America as I am Canadian and feel as if US and Canada with free trade have similar and mutual benefits from manuacturing in either country. They arein the US actually. I used to have Swiss Army, but Leatherman is better.
Regards
Neil
