Need to replace door hinge pin & bushings. How do you get the spring back in at the top hinge after you replace the pin & bushings?

Thanks in advance,

Ted

A valve spring compressor could be used. The type I am thinking of is for Valve in block engines (flatheads) allowing it to be tweezer like. Jim

Pliers, crowbar, flathead screwdrivers, safety glasses, some profanity, and a lot of patience. Those are the tools I used to reinstall the spring on my Dodge.

Harbor Freight has the tool for replacing that spring. It"s about 4 bucks and makes easy work of it. Auto parts stores may rent you the tool as well.

You need to push the follower arm over the roller and swing it out so you can get the spring behind it. Then take a long pry bar and push the whole thing back in over and behind the roller. HTH.
Good Luck and God Bless

Just bought one of those HF spring compressors. Mine cost $5++ but it worked like a charm. I used a bolt, nut and various sizes of washers to install the bottom bushing. Pulled it right up into place.

Trade it in on a Ford Ranger

Get the correct tool. It is not too expensive also cheaper than a trip to the hospital when it fly's out and gets you!
