New toy 72 tiller

Well I brought home my new toy today. I picked up a used (2 y/o) King Kutter II 72" tiller. The price was right. I'll be using it in the garden only, as I've heard the horror stories on here of people using them in the drive way and in the yard before planting grass. Pulling it behind my J.D. 1020 are there any do's/dont's or anything to watch out for with these?
Thanks in advance!
Mark

Make sure the slip clutch isn't rusted together and only engage and disengage the PTO with the tiller out of the ground. It's best to engage the PTO at idle speed. You may want to check that the blades are tight and the gearbox(s) have the proper amount of oil. Adjust the top link so the tiller is level front to back when on the ground. Dave

I've got the same tiller, and have not had any problems. I have tilled about three acres of clover and timothy and planted to grass. I also tilled my whole yard before planting. About 2 1/2 acres. Just keep it greased and check the gearbox regularly.

(quoted from post at 19:34:45 03/24/10) How do you loosen the slip clutch if it is rusted fast?

Loosen lock nuts with tiller attached to tractor, start engine, engage pto with tiller in soil, slip to help eliminate rust/stuck disk and re-tighten nuts to specification or just to the point of no clutch slippage.
