Cub Lo-Boy prices

So did prices on Lo-Boys drop over the past few years?

I bought my 62 lo-boy in average appearance - good running condition. spend 2 years doing a complete restore... sandblasted EVERY part except engine/trans... (that was all meticulously sanded down to the cast metal). Then Etching Primer... Then Dupont Automotive Grade Premium paint. ... 100's of hours - at least $1,000 in paint/parts... only to now see the selling prices are aprox $2,500.00 for a restored lo-boy?? Was looking to sell it, but I guess I'll use it to cut grass and stop worrying about getting it dirty... almost not worth taking up valuable garage space.. Almost.....

The best I have seen an old IH cub from the 1950's go for is $3,500. (and that is a stretch in my opinion) And that is fully restored. The cub lo boy is just a lawnmower, I dont think it has a rear 3pt.

What do you think your Lo-boy is worth.?

certainly was hoping for something more along the lines of $4,500.. but everyone thinks there stuff is more valuable than it really is... especially when its their hours of sweat and painstaking attention to detail. I guess I'm not different... It does not have a 3 pt hitch, but with the PTO - certainly a step up from a lawnmower too.

You also have to figure in how rare the tractor is...........Like, The John Deere BR tractor. There was only 6000 made or something and they go for $5000 or $6000,

There were piles and piles of the lo-boys made I think.

I don't think is it possible to get back restoration costs on any tractor. It will always be worth less than what you put into it.

Those Low boys seem to go for just what you have stated... I have seen a lot of really trashed broken ones that were advertised at around $750-1000 as well. A good Low Boy is probably one of the better buys out there, if you have a use for it.

I have over 5K in a 48 H. I know it is worth, tops, $2500. These things are not investments. If it's any consolation, I have a friend that put 40K in an old Mercury. He sold it a couple years ago for 17K. But he said he had a lot of fun with it!!

People who love sports pay big bucks to watch games in person.
People who like to play sports pay hundreds of dollars to be in a league.
Well, you just paid $1 an hour to have fun. Sounds like pretty cheap entertainment to me.

Pic for what its worth... I do still like it.. just disappointed in the resale value

Funny! 90% of the time you put more $$$$ into the thing your restoring then you can get back out! Thats with tractor and cars! AS a buddy of mine says let the frist guy restore it and go broke and then you buy it from him and get a NEW Tractor! :) I have at lest 2600$ in my cub! 1300 just for the engine rebuild! but i did hop it up a lil, Then at lest 1000 For all the barrings, 150 paint, the list go"s on and on.
