A Ford 960. Learned to drive on it, very nimble, lot of power for the size, first 3pt tractor on our place, and I still have it.

Reddy...

Did you ever driven a (GREEN) 4020?

No matter WHAT color makes you feel warm and fuzzy an honest comparison would have to include the nimble capabilities of the 4020.

Why? A 4020 isn't the be all end all of tractors. There's a lot of good tractors and even tractors that people prefer more than a 4020. Dave

I can't say I've found a tractor I didn't like in some way. That includes various John Deeres, Fords and Farmalls, plus the occasional Case. But my all-time favorite tractor was a Fordson Diesel Major. It just seemed right: plenty of power for it's size and would start in any kind of weather.

Yes, you're right there being lots of good tractors. And yes, others may have one they like better. However, when all factors are figured in, a 4020 is extremely high on the list of all around good tractors. After having a late model diesel, I just can't bring myself to sell or trade it for something newer. It's sure not new, but it is darn dependable and comfortable to operate. Relatively easy on fuel too.

My 1951 MM BF. I know it is small but it just the right size for most of the jobs I have for it. I am not a farmer, just a retired telephone man. I have owned John Deeres, Allis, Oliver and other MMs in older tractors. My MM 335 is nice and my Kubota 5740 is a great tractor. Other tractors come and go but Minnie Mo stays here and gets to go to shows and parades.

I kind of like my 830 Case ck dsl, kind of tall to get on but has great visibility. My 77 Oliver is capable of doing many farm tasks. I had a 1650 dsl. with direct injection and it was a handy tractor and I got alot of work out of it. A 4020 is a nice handling tractor but for alot less money I can go out and rb hay with my 1070 and sit in a nice cab out of the dirt with the ac going!

Depends on the corner of the Spectrum You Are looking , for nostalgias sake CASE VAC , DC and 800 come to mind ,, On the Larger end the 4020 JD comes to mind , On The Overall Best All around the 430 Diesel CASE rates very hi in my Book .AND ..every rainbow color Has a interesting model that Deserves Mention

I love my 1755 OLiver, very user friendly and ranks close to the 4020 JD. For the older ones the JD 720 diesel is a dandy in my book. The sound and smell of the old 2 cylinders is hard to beat.

My '51 John Deere G....but I like just about all makes and models...especially Farmall Super M's and 450's (gas), MM U's, JD A's and 720's, MH 44's, Allis' WD's and Oliver 88's. I like Oil Pull Rumelys and Port Huron Steamers too. Actually very few models of tractors I don't like.

its a close one. But ill have to go with my oliver 1655. It sounds great and it is big enough to do everything i ask it to do.

But there is probably a couple tractors everyone could say. I also love the 4020 and the MF 1080 along with the olliver 1855.

Massey 1100. By far the best one I had the pleasure to run in my farmhand days.

That was 25-30 years ago, same tractor is still working today.

I Also have favorite tractors from the past , However I have never been able to precisely determine the gender!!

How do you answer a question like that! Is it my 37 JD B(latest project), my 48 Allis B(Dads tractor, grew up on that one), my 40 JD H(first tractor I owned and restored), my 41 JD A(use it all winter to plow snow and split wood), my 44 JD B(use it for all kinds of jobs, always starts in the cold), or my 48 JD D(nothin' sounds like an old D at a slow idle). Geez I don't know how to answer the question. Guess I like 'em all.

I have enjoyed my old 7600 Ford for over 25years, it does the small tractor work or will pull a 4 bottom plow. I have about 10 tractors but this one gets the most hours by far than any of the others.

The Farmall M's and SM's get my vote because I grew up with them without the 3 pt hitch but you can't miss something you never had. Nice post, thanks for bringing back the memories. It was a time when our whole family was together and alive and we talked about the days events at the dinner table giving jabs about how my tractor kicked your tractor's backside. Being the youngest I got the old M and rebuilt it in Vo-Ag and made it so it would walk over my brothers SM and SMTA diesel even though dad would say "Passed everything but the fuel tank" CT

I like about any Wheatland or Western. I'm not a farmer, but if I need to drag something around, I'll usually grab the Case 900. Used to have a 4020, and they are a great tractor, but I'd rather drive my Case 1175 puller. The old IH 560 Wheatland is a fun one, too, and as far as older tractors go, nothing drives and handles quite like a Farmall H. I guess I've got too many favorites.

My favorite is my 6000 Ford[/img]

I like my CASE 430 Turbo diesel. Power to spare, and a blast to take to a tractor show! We have a ball sitting back and watch people peeking up under the hood and in the grill trying to see the turbo. They think that we just put on decals until we start it and bring it up to a fast idle, and they hear that distinctive whistle from the exaust. These were great little tractors in work dress. With 12 speed trannies there was a gear for every job plus a 20 plus MPH road gear. This one does 33MPH up hill and down.

Cadet Trooper The background was masked and sprayed. Boarders is pinstriping tape. Lettering is vynil. I have a friend who has cut decals from 1/16 scale to those on the430 for the last 20 years for me. You ought to see his airbrush work.
