Heating pad.

Anyone have an online source for rubber heating pads like used for pigs?
Sure could have used one today. Dog had 8 puppies and didn't know what to do with them, so they almost froze. After moving them in the house and several hours of fussing over her/them and a miracle shot the wife keeps on hand, got her in the mommy mood and the babies drinking. I raced to 3 different farm stores and called a couple, think I could find something? By the time I gave in and bought/brought a heat lamp home, they were all cuddled up to mom and eating. I feel safer with the pad than a lamp, but need something to keep me from going into another panic like this morning

If somebody already has one (2x3ft?), could you tell me how many watts it pulls?

Thanks,

Dave

Fill plastic pop bottles or milk jugs with hot water works good for something like that.

Hindsight....................

Guess I lost my thinking cap yesterday...... Still like to have a mat for overnight use as an emergency backup. Everyone is fine so far. She usually would have been moved in the house to have the babies, but I miscounted the days and was working the day before so couldn't see how she acted.

I bought a couple on-line a few years ago, but I don't recall the source. They don't draw much power; I think the smaller one (about 10x16") draws 45 watts. The larger one (about 16x30") draws 90 watts.

Our cats love their mat, but our Chesapeake would never use hers. She was absolutely terrified of the thing!

Thought that was BS when I read the description of a real expensive one here. Said that it only heated after the dog layed on it, otherwise they wouldn't go on it.

Guess maybe it's true then.

I think our dog didn't like the sound it made when she stepped on it. My son's Chow didn't have a problem with it. That Chesapeake had some quirks: she had no problem walking through the kitchen when the floor was vinyl, but she wouldn't step into it once we put down hardwood.
