calc an acre

Does anybody have any experience with the micro-trak calc an acre systems. Would they work on older equipment.
Thanks

A friend I planted soy beans for had one put on the eight row Kinze (John Deere) planter and it worked very well. I assume we are talking about the same thing. I am hard of hearing and the alarm on it was hard to hear until we got cab tractors.

Yeah, we have a 900 cyclo air planter. We have a 966 IH we pull it with and was wondering how it would work on a tractor that old. The planter has a moniter with it. Found it thru shoup, never dealt with them, are they any good to deal with? Thanks for the help.

Calc an acres work with a magnetic pickup off a wheel. Thusly anything with a wheel that you can put a magnet on the hub and mount the pickup close to where the magnet passes by will work. If you wanted to I think you could put a calc an acre on a 30-60 Aultman Taylor. Just need a 12v power supply.

Nother option is a GPS patch antenna. Just put it where it has access to the sky and you are good to go.

Very useful bit of electronic gear.

That is where I buy mine. I have two of the newer ones and bought them both from Shoup. They have very good replacement parts and are pretty reasonable. The Calc-An-Acre units work very well. I have them with a magnetic pickup unit and another with a GPS unit and both work fine. The GPS is probably more accurate and doesn't need to be calibrated for wheel circumference. Mike

What are you trying to calculate. I have an 80 dollars handheld GPS that I can drive around the perimeter of any shape field on my ATV and it will read out the sq ft, sq yds, or acres. And store it and give my a little picture map.
