Pallet forks question

2 drawbacks! 1 = you can't see what they're doing because the bucket blocks your line of vision. 2 = They can't lift as much, because of being further out in front.
A man of your considerable talent shouldn't have any trouble building a headgear and hanging forks on it!

I've already got a little Hough loader I put forks on. I'm just trying to find something to build to make some money til I start baling hay.

A third drawback is they put a lot of stress on the bottom edge of the loader bucket & can warp them.

I prefer the type that chain around the bucket, tighten with a binder. They get support from the top of the bucket as well as the leading edge. Less stress.

I wanted a method to pick up pallets and move them around all terrain style. I made up my own CAT 1 fork assembly for the 3 PTH on my JD M. I can lift about 500 lbs about 2 feet and move it around. I also plan to make a couple brackets to lug this in the bucket of my JD 310A backhoe if I need to get rough.

We used a set on our backhoes. They have their moments. Once you get used to them, not seeing the forks is not an issue. I like them. Unless you have a quick attach system on the loader, pulling pins on the buckets to change to a true set of forks is miserable. They are definitely meant for heavy tractors (and buckets). Much easier to slide in the empty side of the truck and take from job to job than clear the bed out and load a solid set in there. We no longer have the backhoes, but we definitely kept the forks. Now if we're in a pinch, and the job we're on has a loader tractor around, it can be a forklift in about a minute. There is a market for them, but you have to beat everyones price.

Either beat their price or make yours better. I have some ideas. You have a good point about not taking much space. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
