Loudest johnny popper

I've only driven about half of the two banger models, but the loudest I've driven with a muffler is an R. The farther it lugs down the louder it gets. It doesn't fade away after it gets down so far, just gets louder. Jim

Heh-Heh! Thatud be cuz it bangs [u:13482fe2a6]every[/u:13482fe2a6] time 'steada every second time!
Chuckle-chuckle! ain't nuffin like a "Screamin Jimmy"!
Usta drive a 238 Deeeetroit wif a straight pipe! Cud hear it grabbin gears 6 miles away, an' that weren't in open country either!

Sirrusly though, I'd hafta speculate it [u:13482fe2a6]might[/u:13482fe2a6] be a G puller! Just cuz a sheer displacement!

I would say the model D.working in the field they were heard for miles. i put a straight pipe on one and then she would really bark.

They get quieter over a period of time, though.

Wait a minute, that's your hearing going away.

J , Would you mind posting again the pictures of your garden and the cabbage that you grew? I would really like to see that again but dont know how to find it in archives, I wanted to ask you questions on growing the cabbages , thank you very much

I had a 730 diesel straitpiped,on a 2row silage cutter(IH 50),8 hours a day for4/5 days.used 2 FULL tanks a day! HUH, What did you say?(i was 20 years old,liked LOUD ).

Kinda have to agree with ya Fixerupper, 34 years back I was working either in Colby or Goodland Ks. about a city block from the ag shop of the school. They had just rebuilt an R or D and had it on a dynamo. WOW that was loud. Started out reasonable but as they cranked her down the louder it got.

We ran a 720 gas a G.
I could run the G all day on a disc with a straight pipe and not have any problems. Give me half a day on the 720 with a muffler and it was headache city.

The loudest one I ever hear is the one someone parks at a tractor show and lets it set there and run for hours while people are setting there trying to rest or have a conversation with that pop pop pop blocking everything out.
