Tractor Tires TSC Rant !!!!

I had a flat on the front tire of my tractor (steel radial) and the tire was ruined but, it was 10 years old so not a big deal. I had a new tire that I bought last year, $ 65, now $ 101. I decided I wanted to put a tube in the tire because its a nylon. I was afraid that the local tire shop wouldn’t have one so before I went I stopped at TSC and bought a heavy-duty truck & tractor tube, 19 dollars.
I took all to the tire shop and they changed it out while I was getting a hair cut. When I got back the owner told me that I should have waited to get the tube from him because the tube I got from TSC was the cheapest and thinnest available plus it had valve stem that was about 3 inches long which will get knocked off before long. So much for TSC.
I also asked about the 101-dollar tire and they said it’s because of the government import duty on tires from China. I said, “This tire is made in India”. They said “Yes, but price increases apply across the board”. I’m baffled.

Let's see; You bought an item at one store, then took it to another store -a store that sells the same item- and asked them to install it. Then you're surprised they have something negative to say about the item you bought someplace else? Well I guess now I'm baffled...

The import tariff on Chinese tires is a "protective tariff". That is, it's intended to protect US manufacturers from unfair competition from China. A side effect is that it will also help any country OTHER than China that imports tires into the US.

I made a mistake with a tube last fall. Had a front tire that needed aired every few days, so grabbed a new tube at Rural King. Got the right size (duh) but when I went to put it in the tire I discovered that the valve stem came out of the center of the tube like a motorcycle. Always in a hurry, and it's 40 miles round to return it, so I muscled it together. Figgered it would maybe make the day. Still holding air - now I'm curious just how long it will last. Wait - I know - second round of hay mowing it will fail. . . But I've got another ready to replace it when it goes. And it's got the valve where it's sposed to be.

Don't want to criticize since I don't know the details, but you should at least given the tire store the chance to provide you a tube. If they were out of stock, then maybe run over to TSC if you needed the tire together that day.

One shop I use to work at would charge double on a tube or tire that was not purchased there if a customer wanted it mounted.

Now if the tire store was out of a tube, whole different story.

Finally, sounds like you picked up the right tube, but never opened the box to verify the style of valve stem. There is at least 3 different types I can think of.

So, I am confused why you are mad at TSC.

whens the last time you bought a tube rr ?..front tractor 6.50X16 tube around here runs about $25 to $30...bicycle tube at Wally-world is $12...just bought a 15.5X38 radial tube cost $89 before tax...Kent

The tariff on Chinese tires did what it was supposed to do which was stop the tires coming in from China. But that caused a shortage of tires which caused the price to go up on the ones that were here.
