i'm going to be in omaha in late march, any thoughts as to what can i expect weather wise. also, any good places to eat or interesting things to see out in the country?

As far as the weather goes, March came in like a lamb, so expect the lion at the end! LOL
Alot of the good restaurants have closed, due to the casinos over in Iowa. So, I guess the good places to eat ARE at the casinos? I have only been once, and was not THAT impressed! There is a little dive called Petrows, that has served Warren Buffet and Bill Gates when Bill was in town. They posted on their marque that 'Two Billionairs Served'. That would be a good lunch or dinner.
The air museum is a good stop. They are at exit 426 on I80-about 20 miles west of Omaha. They have a HUGE building, and losts of airplanes inside-including a B52!

You could check out Farmall Land USA in Avoca IA if it is open. It is about 30 mins east of Omaha. I am a big fan of Parkers Smokehouse. Just off the interstate at Ashland. David Lettermans home office (phone booth) used to be in Wahoo Ne about 30 mins West of Omaha.

The UPRR museum in Council Bluffs, the Bertrand steamboat museum at Desoto Bend, just north of Omaha 20 minutes, by late March the Bend should have a few thousand migrating geese and ducks. For steak houses, Piccolo Petes, Anthonys, Johnnys, Cascios, The Spaghetti Works, for good ordinary food, The Summer Kitchen.

One more thing, in Lincoln Ne. is the museum of the Nebr. Tractor Testing station, the UNL campus. google it.
