Hello I went and looked at a JD 2010 1965 model tractor it comes with a set of heavy duty adj.7'disk, row makers, 16" two bottem plow, grader blade, middle buster 5' brush cutter. The front tires are 75% and the rear tires are about 60%. Tractor has around 1000 hours on it, it was bought new by owner. Paint is a little faded, but still looks ok, The tractor has been setting in the barn for the last 6-7 years. The wife used it to cut the back field after husban got down and could not, said she ran it last Oct. 2009. I did not get to run it the battery was down. What do you think this would be worth, she is asking 6500.00 The tractor is a 1965 but was bought in 1969 new according to sells slip.

From what I've read on here, the 2010 tractor wasn't one of JD's finest. Price seems high to me but I'm not a JD expert. Dave

Engine repair parts are expensive. Diesels are known for hard starting and prone to cracking cyl heads. Brakes weren't very good when tractors were brand new. Way too high for my location.

Only 1000 hours on it? I'd question that. For a 45 year old tractor, that works out to about 22 hrs per year. Doubtful, in my mind.

Gas or diesel?
If that pristine it's worth more to a New Generation than to a user.
The deal is worth the tires, battery, fuel in the tank and the implements. Figure the tractor as being for free.

Check the oil very good as the seals on the bottom of the sleeves will go bad and let the coolant down into the oil. This is on gas tractors, don't know about deisels.

You could beat the deisels to death and they would still go. Uncle had one and he never took care of anything and it kept going and going. To me the worst think is location of the control levers being too close to the steering wheel, hit my hand many a time. The gas engine was the same as a combine engine and they were great.

I never liked green paint.......

But them damn 4020's are like the energizer bunny, hard to complain about them..

If I remember right the 1010 and 2010 where JDs problem child's and where not made for very long and parts are very hard to come by I know because we have a 1010 parts tractor and the 2 use the same engine and engine parts are like trying to find hen's teeth. So to me that is one I would run from

I'd run not walk away from that one.Not worth the powder to blow them to hell.I think others have/will confirm my thoughts.

I owned a 2010 gasser. Don't want another. I would run from the whole deal.
