What's it worth

Photos will help alot. It depends on how quickly you need to sell it. If you put it up for $1000, I would guess it would be sold by noon (tell me where to send the check). If you want to see where the market is, put it @ $4,500 and see if anyone bites. There are too many varriables involved to just give you a quick and fast number. My e-mail is open, I'm in Michigan as well and am serious about sending a check.

I thought I uploaded a picture the first post but it didn't show.
I do know that this is a rare tractor a collector told me he only knew of two (ours being one) in the state of Michigan. Also the vin# VAS5660001 suggests it's value. I would'nt dream of selling it for $1000 or even $4,500. Thanks anyway.

Then just put it on Ebay with a reserve of $250,000 or whatever and quit wondering...

Who knows what the value of these old tractors are???

Probably the best advice you'll get Ma'am.Besides, it won't be long before some fool comes on badmouthing it.

Very nice job though.

Unfortunately The Value is only what the market will bear in these tough economic times. Usually that has nothing to do with what a person has invested in a tractor or what they think it should bring.

Finding the right buyer to pay 5000 or better for that is going to be a challenge. Only so many people with that kind of money to throw around who are interested in Case tractors.

That being said it looks like a quality restoration.

I hope your husband recovers quickly.

Beth, I used to own a modern Case tractor but I'm not a "Case guy". I did look your tractor up. VACs were built from 1942 to 1955. They built a lot of them and you still see a lot of them around but rarely as good looking as yours. Case lumped all of their tractor model serial numbers together so you can't tell how many were built of any given model per year. They allotted 100,000 per year up until 1953 when they went to 150,000. Your tractor's number puts it roughly halfway through the year's production. From the picture it looks like yours could be a highcrop model which would certainly make it rare. I would guess that a collector would give an extra $1000 to $1500 for it, above the $3000 that a nice looking standard might bring. On the other hand a mid 40s extremely rare Ford recently went for $13,750 at an auction that had been publicized all over the world and attended by bidders from all over the world. In order to make your tractor known to that collector that just has to have it you need to advertise it in Antique Power Magazine, The Heritage Eagle, which is a quarterly, and in the photo ads on this site. You first need to verify that it is indeed a highcrop. Good Luck

Beth, I"m not a case guy but just have to add also your husband did a great job on this little beauty. Hope his health issues change for the better.

I live in MI also and I know that the State will pay the medical bills for people unable to pay their own. A married couple is allowed to have $2000 in cash and house and car. The tractor has no title and no paper trail or documentation as to who owns it or what it is worth. Therefore it doesn't exist , if you get my drift. What I'm saying is keep the tractor if you can. There's probably many details none of us know about your situation but you don't have to sell everything you own to pay hospital bills! If you want to you can and I'm sure the State would love you for it. Tell me to mind my own bussiness if you want , but think of what you are selling. You may not have to. I wish you and your husband the best and pray for a positive outcome. I would hope there are a lot more reasons to keep the tractor than to sell it. Hope things get better. Randy.

Nice job , whoever did the rebuild.Who knows what it might bring. If there was a Barret -Jackson for tractors , some body with tooo much money might want to put it in thier collection for six or seven figures. But only if you go through Barret -Jackson.
