I bought myself a truck today

A couple of you may remember my posts about wanting to retire my 80 F350. I about gave up looking, until last night I was checking Craigs List and saw a 96 dodge 3500 dulley for 2,800 I called and made a appointement today to check it out. The truck wasen't too bad body wise. The tranny fluid was dirty, but didn't have the burned smell. The rear bumper was a little twiked, No rust anywhere, which is good, as my ford was showing bad rust in areas. Paint was a little faded. Interior was fairly clean. Electric widows, and seat worked. even had a radio. Best of all it had a key, which my ford didn't have. I didn't haggle on the price of $2,800 because the owner had people waiting if I didn't want it. The owner is going to have it smogged, so I should sail through the DMV, after I wait over a hour that is. Thanks for all the input I got from you guys. satan

It's gitting bad when you can't even spell your own name. I just washed my hands and can't do a thing with them. Stan

luck was with you as I din't have the money to spend, also seen the ad and had I had the money I would of had your truck, how many miles are on it? hope you have good luck with it.

Good deal on the truck. Get the trans serviced and the bands adjusted, not just a flush and fill.

Depending on the mileage...I would say you stole it if it's a diesel.. The 96 had the older 12 valve diesel. Great engine.
If it is...get the killer dowel pin checked and fixed.

The truck has 137,000 mi. I needed to make a choice put the money, and time in my old 80 Ford, or try to up date. I would have perfered a ford, but I just didn't find anything in my price range. I have a 05 F150 for my daily driver. I am using this Dodge just to pull my tractor, and not be afraid to scratch it by throwing tools, and gas cans in the back. Stan

Bottle of scratch out, some elbow grease, and a good paste wax and it'll look like new.
However...Without pictures, noone really knows if you got the truck or not except you. That don't count though.

I think you were concerned about selling your Ford because of emissions ? Just sell it in an area without e-check.

You must not be in the rust belt or else that 96' dodge would be pretty rusty. Bottom of doors go first. Mine has held up pretty good but I keep it oiled and spray some undercoating on it too.

Good luck Stan.

Satan? Is that what a Mopar will do to you? Change your name to Satan? True story Stan. Had a neighbor friend back in '69, had beautiful identical paint jobs on his Hemi Road Runner and Hemi GTX that pulled the Road Runner to the dragstrip every Sunday. That Road Runner was called "Satan's Toy", and it sure would tear the strip right up. I was always a Chevy man back then, but have since changed to Dodge pickups, but never considered changing my name to Satan because of it. Maybe I oughta. Grin.

Good to hear Stan, hope it all works out for you.
