On a 1966 4020 Powershift, which filter do you tap to plumb in a loader. The front one or back one? Also how many gpm joystick loader valve should I get?

Actually since trans pump never stops pumping on a PS while engine is running one can return to sump or return to frt filter if desired.
 
You operator's manual shows which filter is PS and which is hydraulics. 1-800-522-7448
While the Waterloos have a higher flow trans pump than the Dubuque/mannheim tractors. The ported filter return you are installing is ideal. Even better on a high hour tractor with trans pump wear.
 
JD part # AK40462 tee, to replace elbow on rockshaft return line (Left side tran.) much cheaper then purchased ported filter cover. Caution: when making your own (drilled & taped) filter cover , a sudden presure surge, in return oil, may blow a hole in your filter element..it happened to mine!
 
Not for shure on a power shift but what about tapping into your priority valve,,,,or do ya have a 3 point on it ?????

Did it ever occur to you that not all 4020's have a 3-point hitch?
 
4020's without rockshaft have a plug where rockshaft line would attach ;than a elbow or straight coupling works great. and costs less..
 
Mine has 3 point. It that the line that is in between the hydr. cap and p.s. cap? Still wondering about the GPM valve question???

Rockshaft return line is above & to right of hyd filter, hyd. filter is filter farther to back of tractor... I would use a joystick valve about the same GPM. as my pump...
