I know more times than not grain is higher in certain months then others. I know that more times than not grain is higher certain week of month then others. I know that more times than not grain is higher on certain day of week then others. Is their a web page where grain price is charted so I can look back maybe 5 years and see when those high times are? Thanks in advance. Flying Belgian.

There is such a page, I don't know where, but you might start at the CBOT. Trouble is grain prices have not stayed with that history in recent years. Partly because of weather, yields, and demands though mostly because of index funds buying and selling according to the price of crude or the strength of the dollar vs yen ignoring the weather, yields and demands fundamentals. Which is to say the old cycles aren't happening now. You just have to set a price you'll take and watch by the minute and sell when the price is acceptable, not necessarily the high for the year. Corn price can swing ten cents a day and not change at the end of the day, beans three times that. Or on new like USDA crop reports they can go the market limit for a couple days.

Thanks Gerald. Found one that breaks it down to months but would like to go even further and break it down to what day of month. Even what time of day. My records show more times than not bid is highest from 11:00 Am to 1:00 Pm. But I have only been charting time of day for last 18 months. Would like to go back to at least 5 yrs.

Some of the ag magazines & a local - or not local - coop have such info on their web sites. Kinda hit & miss tho.

cbot.com used to have an easy to get to & use set of charts, but they merged with CME and now you have to use their web site. They have the same good charts, but it is more cumbersome to get to them.

www.cmegroup.com

Click on 'commoditities' and 'corn' or whatever crop you want. This gives you a chart of the current bids.

To see a chart of the past you click on the little blue box in the 'chart' column for the month you want to look up. That'll give you a daily chart that covers about 3 months. But at the bottom of the chart you can select anything from monthly which covers many years, to nearly instant which covers moment by moment.

At different times of the day things might show up differently, depending if the markets are open or not. Like I say, they made it kinda cumbersome, but it is direct from the source - CBOT.

I barely remember my one grandpa. His dad lost a farm during the depression and that made my grandpa very frugal.

My dad told me a saying that grandpa told him:
"You can't go broke making a profit"

What he meant was to not be greedy. Set a goal where you can make some money and sell. Dont look back.

Not a 100% cure, but it might help!

I think there are charts posted on agriculture.com but not sure. The local feed/seed stores here all DTN monitors and I try to get the weather and take a glance at the charts on there when I am in.
