Doin' it again (venting). There's a dude here that sells shop, owner, and parts manuals for old tractors here for an arm & leg........ I got mine for free from a guy and figured it'd be good to pass the favor along. Put a bunch of stuff I have on CD and when someone asks on a forum, I get their address and send it (no charge) . Guess they think if they answer, they owe me something.

Guess I'm outa the help a buddy business (til the next time).......

Some of the younger generation have never been to the "help a friend" school and don't understand when someone helps them and wants nothing in return.

Ahhh, but then when the rare one comes along that expresses his appreciation, it makes you want to do it all over again. We've all been there Dave.

YA know Bud I see the same thing here where I live: I do not help people out that need it because I have to: I help folks out because I
want to, I except nothing in return other than a thank you or maybe a hand shake Thats the way I was raised.

Any more and this is sad to say but it is any body people just do not help people out any more and young or old at least in my area it is the same. Also the same with people driving they pull out in front of you go 100 feet and turn off which in turn slows you down 2 times. Or like the person the other day in a nice new BMW on a 2 lane passes me and then slows down to make a right hand turn slowed me down which cost me brake pad wear and fuel. If she had just slowed down and went in behind me she would not have lost any time and would have been a respectful driver

I'm not sure what you're venting about? You were fortunate enough to get some free manuals and pass the info on to others if they want it. Someone else sells the manuals to who wants to buy them. That's free enterprise. Is no one taking you up on your offer and that's why you're venting? Dave

Most times on this forum if someone gets help, they rarely get a thank you. It would be nice but people now a days just seem to forget about it or claim to be too busy. It would be nice to know if the advice they got worked or what they ended up doing. Dave

I'd only add that the atmosphere might get a little better if those helping out sent a quick "Yer welcome!" to those folks that do say thank you. Courtesy is a contagious kind of thing.

No offense to any one , but I could say a lot more about the younger generation, both good or bad , but mostly bad. But yes, we'd all benefit in life from saying thank you and you're welcome back to who ever said thank you to us for whatever we did for them . I always try to say thank you in my original post.

Old ,

How very true what you said . At least, it's nice to know that people drive like that where you live , too. I thought they only did it around here . They get in a hurry to go nowhere worth while ,except to an early grave.

I find it is loosing its attraction, hold a door open for some and you get a "kiss my a@@" look. [so you say thank you with the intent of making them feel bad but probably doesn't have any effect].wonder why I do it.Then again some teenager will say "thank you". like that, gives an indication of their upbringing at home.So there is those and them.

But you forget Old, vehicles like the BMW, Mercedes and a few other expensive ones come with their own set of driving rules,it's the same here.

Still trying to figure out the direction of the "vent". Is it about the "dude" providing a service for fee or the people who appear to be turning down a free cd??? There are a few who prefer the "real Mc Coy" to compliment their tractor or implement and a cd just doesn't cut it. Yes , they should at least acknowlege your offer and thank out if not wanted , I agree! I buy and sell a few "originals" now and then and keep a select few for myself. These people want the originals! Not re-prints or cd,s. Usually a person with a 60-70 yr old machine wants a 60-70 yr old manual to go with it. I don't get rich off mine , avg price is around $22-$28 and that includes shipping. That's a bargain in anybodys book for a paper manual that was made at the same time as the machine it represents and has stood the test of time and still remains in excellent shape. Also the average age of my

buyers is probably 55---60 yrs old! They are not into "cd,s"! they want to sit in the ole chair and "read" about their tractor. I do agree , though , it's pretty low that they don't at least thank you for the offer. It is what it is! On a related issue , not many of us "old" folk will buy these "aftermarket" or "re-production" tractor parst either. There are still plenty of originals out there. I want a 60yr old fender on my 60 yr old tractor.

(quoted from post at 20:01:33 03/02/10) Still trying to figure out the direction of the "vent". .

Not a real biggy.......The person selling the stuff is selling cd's..I sent a couple to folks on my dime and just thought the neighborly thing would be to say thank you. Not a big deal, just how I was raised.
