OT: Interesting mechanical device

Picked up a pre-WWII 35mm camera years ago at a garage sale, shutter was stuck. Today I decided a good winter project would be to try and get it working again.

Never been inside one of these old shutter mechanisms before, pretty interesting contraption. Cleaned everything off, got all the little springs and screws back in place. It seems to work, I'll post some tractor pictures after I fix the light seal in back.

Here's a series of pictures showing how it works:

The way I figure someone put the thing to gether by hand. There is no reason someone else can't repair mechanical stuff by hand. I took apart a corbin speedometer from my Indian motorcycle. I figured what was wrong and made repairs. Stan

I agree with you Stan. I try and disassemble just about everything. Problem today is too many things are "throwaway" and you can't take them apart or you'll destroy them doing so. Even then, I've done it only to find that the broken part is NOT sold separately. Most things are assembled for the ease and cost of the producer, NOT the end user to maintain. Cars are a good example.
