Wow,neighbours young fella got himself a new camaro last spring with his reported 60 000 loan from what he told me after taxes now he was here today telling us he's deffinately getting a new 4 wheeler, the one he says he's getting is 16 000 plus tax bringing it to just under 20 000.I must have been a real slacker to not afford 80 000 in toys by the time I was 21 lol.Glad his dad doesn't mind putting up the land to co-sign for him lolol.

nope, this is Canada, saw a 2010 camaro last week at a lot with a window sticker of 46 000,his has 6 thousand more dollars in options, than add pst,gst and gas guzzler tax (cars that don't average 35mpg or higher),that brang it to 59500,his 4 wheeler he claims to be getting is an 800 Bombadier CanAm,fully loaded up here in pay through the nose ville, add pst (10%) gst (5%) and environent tax, that ontop of the 16000 tag,and they really do charge us that much, that's 20 thousand.Keep in mind EVERYTHING's more expensive here, from 105.02 a litre gas (just over a quart) to 600 a tonne (2200lb) fertilizer. It's nuts.

I understand your cost structure because I lived in Edmonton for 2 years and Calgary for a year recently.
I think he would have been better off to have bought it here in the US and paid the GST when he took it back across the border. Can't you get away with that???????
As for the Bombadier he can do what he wants to support Canadian labor. Unfortunately its not the best machine in my opinion....
If his daddy coughed up for his note I don't think he'll have great regard for those things. I hope I'm wrong.....

He rips them from time to time, but he's supprisingly responsible, other than the times he had it going 155mph in a 65 zone in NB lol.If my young fella is expecting me to co-sign for personal loans like that when he gets to the other guys age,he's going to be very dissapointed.I'm jellous lol.I wasted most of my to that point life savings on my first car and started borrowing money to buy afew better cows, feed tank and 14' culti-packer.That lucky duck gets toys like that right out of the gate lol. It's gotta be fun lol.

Getting all the Toys early in life will ruin a person... Nothing to look forward to, since they have had it all... By the time a guy gets to the point that he can afford all those toys, most realize that they don't really need them...

What is this kid's source of income, where is he living and what is his education?
I hope the kid understands his $80,000.00 will be worth $5000.00 in 10 years.

Some 15 years ago, when I was in GM sales, we had a 19 year old kid just getting started in sales. He was driving a new 40th Anniversary Corvette. (His father was a retired John Deere dealer).

The Sales Manager said, "He11, when I was 19, I was lucky if I could buy a package of rubbers".

Back when I was a kid I had to work and pay for every thing I had. Back when I was 13 I bought and payed for my first motorcycle and also payed the insurance on it. Ya both did not cost all that much by today's standards but back then it was a lot for a 13 year old. Now days kid get it handed to them ad that is why the gov. is so messed up the ones in office have no clue as to what and how hard it is in the real world. Oh if you want to jump on me about my SSD think about it I payed in at the age of 13 and never got an income tax return till I was 18 so the gov has a lot on what I now should have. Ya sorry been getting hit on a lot lately

Wow , i busted my donkey to earn money . My first venture was bank rolled by my one uncle and it was a 58 Farmall cub with all the equipment and a little two wheel trailer for 850 . I plowed up yards and gardens and plowed snow with it plus worked off what i owed him by working on his farm . That cubby put money in the bank for me . Got a job when i was 13 working at a construction company mowing the grass sweeping the shop and cleaning the offices that worked up to becoming a operating engineer with a A book and i could run it all along with driving one of the Lowboy outfits hauling the equipment . That bought me two fine cars and lots of nice clothes and put lots of bucks in my pocket . My dad told me that if i wanted it i had to earn it and if i broke it i had to fix it . Plus now that i was working i needed to pay mom 10 a week and this was back in the sixtys.

old , go back and look at some of the replys about (what i found lying on the ground) you got hit there , but its different, you got hit with comical abuse I think you might like that!!

That used to happen around here, often times the person with these expensive things was dealing cocaine though. I used to laugh, years back a whole bunch of them were finally busted, mama says in the paper "why my Johnny, he's a good boy" problem is he's driving a $60,000 car but has no job ! LOL ! They did time in federal prison too, some of them were able to make benefit of things they hid when they got out years later, probably won't ever work either. Always one of 2 stories, those who had it handed to them/bucked the system by selling drugs or like most others worked and built their successes on honest ground, can't but go one of those 2 ways, the latter being the more desirable, in my opinion as you cannot even compare the integrity of the honest persons character with someone who cheated or had it handed to them. No one said life would be easy, it is what you make of it, and I think its best done through hard work, because that in itself will put a person to the real test of life, make em see what they have or don't have, unlike the carte blanche ride provided by eliminating the key ingredient that makes a person strong, hard work.

Embarrassing driving onto a high school lot in my 2000 PU and being overrun by youngsters with BMW's and fancy new trucks.

Sounds like the parents need a kick in the rear end. It will be a cold day in He!! when my kid takes out a loan for toys and I cosign for it all.

My parents didnt help me one sticking bit.

I know a guy that has wealthy parents. His dad bought him a piece of land, and loaned him the money to build his house. This guy is a real piece of work, unemployed, drinks, drug use too. Makes me sick.

when I was sixteen I saw a resturant that was about to open and the lawn had been let go before the new owner took over the place. The grass was about 2 ft high . I told the owner I would cut that yard for 20 dollars a week. All my friends laughed at me. It was alot of work with a liitle 20 inch rotary mower but I worked 2 days to get it in shape. After that it was a breeze and I cut it every week for a long time for 20 dollars a week. My friends did not laugh at me then.

He's really not a bad kid, actually a pretty good kid.He was working on a dairy for 12.50 an hour when he bought the camaro, now he's quitting there to work on a beef farm for 15 now he's buying the 4 wheeler. He works 50 plus hours a week, but he's seems to be spending it all.Aint going to bother trying to tell him to have cheaper toys and buy somthing more usefull like land, stocks or bonds,he's living for the moment lol.

I guess a lot of us live for the moment, and spend every cent we make (if you believe what you hear on the news). Personally, I realized we were not rich when I was a kid, but I milked, hayed, shoveled a lot of... , and had a trap line (that was before Green Peace, Grrr...). But even though I had to earn it, I spent it too. I was old before I valued land, but I think I always valued durable things that last. So I always bought quality things and still have most of it today.

I think that young fellow will do ok. He'll probably find a girlfriend, trade his fancy car in on a truck, get a loan for a house (and hopefully some land) with help from his Dad, and by the time he's 30 we'll think he's doing everything right.

I've noticed that most folks have things figured out by the time they're 30.

And that's totally true about things costing MUCH more here in Canada! And we get paid less too!!! I've live here all my life (NS mostly, and now BC) and I still think America is the "Land of Milk and Honey". I hope Americans pause every now and then and appreciate how lucky they are. We're pretty lucky here in Canada too, but not compared to the USA.

Bye for now,

I'd be interested to know what financial institution was willing to lend that much to a kid making $12.50/hr and just changing jobs to get $15. That sounds a lot like the problems Bill Clinton helped create by telling people on minimum wage and lower that they should be able to own their homes, and the govt forcing banks to lend money to people who could not/would not repay it.
I see repossesion and bankruptcy in that boy's future...

Old, why would someone give you grief about collecting SSD? It's not like you haven't worked, and deserve something.

Due to aches and pains I've picked up over the years...most likely will get a disability rating. Am told they take the portion of your disability from the pension, and it's given to you as tax free. Not sure, but it sounds like your getting something you have earned, but just getting it without being taxed on it. Not happy or proud; but it could make a difference on how hard I have to work as a civilian to support my family. My lower back, knees, and neck are not in good shape (common for my AFSC).

If someone thinks your getting rich, they must know somehting the rest of us don't.

Jim

One of my best friends in high school lived like that for a couple of years. Whenever anybody asked him why he bought something else he didn't need,he had one patent answer. Alway said the best way to have something when he wanted it was to go buy it. The last year or so before he went to prison for killing somebody in a drunk driving wreck,he lived in an old school bus with no electricity. It all comes home to roost pretty quick.

Ya sure I'm getting rich, oh ya right been Rich all my life but that is my name. LOL Ya military pension is taxes able but the V.A. disablty pension is not taxed. But the V.A. from what I understand also takes away for the military pension so you get less pension but that equals out in the V.A. money so you don't win for loosing, you just pay less taxes

At 13 I didn't but at the age of 14 I did because Jan 5th the year I turned 14 I also got my first drivers license so I had to have insurance for what I rode which at the time was a motorcycle and I used that to deliver newspapers with. But I also worked at the paper company as a press mans helper

Oh ya in joking it is just fine but then there is the guys the hit on me saying I get a welfare check and I do not deserve to get SSD or any thing else. Had one like that yesterday just do not remember exactly whee it was
