Old Farm mags

I was at a auction and ended up with alot of old farm mags. I probably would guess between 2 & 3 thousand of them.

They are sitting in my living room waiting for me to sort and stack.

My kids will burn the whole lot of them if I should kick off. I was wondering if I should cut the adds out and sell them, or sell the whole book at one time, or a sorted stack.

They have been blocking my living room for over six months, and they don't seem to sort themselves. So I'm hoping to get at it one of these very first days. (Just like I said when I purchased them). I think there are some 1921's and up to probably 1970's.

Lots of Farm J,Successful Farming, Prarie Farmer.

Should I cut or leave untouched?

Up to you. Flea market value on'em is about a buck apiece. They are interesting though ain't they? I've got a few Farm Journals from 53&54. Another one here,I don't remember what it is,but from the early teens. Amazing to read some of the editorials and see how some things never change.

Thanks everyone, I kinda like the CD thing. I wonder if I will have to pay the MAN for using their materals and copy rights.

Just way cool all the articles, and advertsments.

My investment is $5.00 per banana box, there was a few manuals that were in the pile. I have big intentions, but I get side tracked reading artickles. Next thing I know it is morning.

Don't cut them up, I believe there is more value as a complete magazine. You could easily package them up in a group of 5 and get $10 in a heartbeat. Look on ebay, you might be able to auction off ones that have specific content for higher amounts.

I like to give them as Birthday presents if I know someones date of birth and I can find them to purchase. Great for 40, 50 and 60 yr milestones.
As the recipiant its kind of neat to get two or three different magazines from the year and month you were born.

I think if they were mine, I would try to sell them as complete magazines first. If I couldn't sell them that way them I might cut out the ads and put them on e-bay. I would be interested in anything from Jan. 1949 or Dec. 1951. E-mail is open. Chris

I'd pay for one! There was an ad (I think shell oil) that had a full page of tractors of the day (A 560, Case 800, Deere 4010,AC ?, MF ?, Ford 6000, etc. Probably late 60s or early 70's; likely Successful Farming. [email protected]
