Cold frames first try with pictures

Well don't know if it is right, wrong or someplace between but here is the first one I built. Guess time will tell.
Oh and the first picture shows how close I am when I shoot at the critters on my porch the beer can is where the opossum was last night. And the edge is where the last coon was when I shot it so you see almost point blank range. Also before I even got the glass in the clod frame I had a cat checking it out to see if it was good enough. LOL

Is't it kind of hard on the porch boards shooting critters like that with a 44mag? I know from experience that a 158 grain 357mag will go strait through the middle of a opossum.
 
That is why I use those shot shells so as to save the porch but not the animals. I'm about 100% sure they die from the shot just they manage to crawl off before they die at the range I'm shooting them at
 
I used to grab raccons and oppossums with a
hog-catcher type wire cable noose and throw them back outside. Then a young raccoon peed all over the place while I had him in the noose and I had to try something completely different. I am pretty sure he didn't come back though.
 
Old , your always doing somthing . Your building somthing doing mechanic work pulling and replacing your water pump , gardening , baling hay and hauling it to your neighbors and grading the neighbors drive . You go hunting and you can cook and to here you tell about yourself doing these things you are one of the best at it . I would like for you to tell us if you can do all these things why do the rest of us hard working tax payers on this board have to send you a check every month because you say you cant work then you b!tch because we dont send you enough .
 
My folks used a cold frame just like yours for years. This was in North Central Ohio. It faced east and was built into a slope. Worked very well for them.
P.S. My groundhog medecine is an old 12 ga. single shot with #4 shot, don't even need to put my glasses on. Might be kind of rough on the porch.

I could use the 12 gauge but like you said to hard on the porch and I don't want to have to fix that. I do also have a 20 gauge but again to hard on the porch. This 44mag does not blow threw them so I must be getting them just not a drop dead in there tracks type hit they can walk off a bit and hide
 
I'll try to be nice on this but I should not have to justify what I do to you or any body else.
#1 how long did it take me to build that cold frame as in hours/days etc how many brakes did I have to take to do so???
#2 when I bale hay how many hours do I drive each tractor and how many brakes do I take when doing so??
#3 how far away is my neighbors place from me?? How long does it take me to grade his driveway and how many brakes do I take doing so??
#4 how old was I when I first started paying into Fica and what was the job I did then.
Also what are my doctors orders when it comes to lifting, standing, walking and running a machine??
#5 what is so hard about hunting deer. You go sit in a tree stand shoot the deer and then drag it out of the woods. But here is the things tell me what and how I drag that deer out?? Do I have help of do I do it by my self.
See you judge me and have no clue as to how I do things and for that matter you have no clue as to want all problems I have and how I came about having them. There are a lot of others in this site that are also disabled but they also drive tractors bale hay and hunt etc etc
So do not put a person down unless you can in fact walk a mile in there shoes and do not judge a person because if you do god will in fact judge you the same way as you judge that person think about it and if you can not read the book
 
I ve had 5 back surgeries and a hip replacement and none of them have helped . On top of that my ticker aint in the best shape . I m in pain 24/7 that would put most folks in the bed . My docs have tried to get me to go on disability but why should the taxpayers pay me for nothing when I can grit my teeth and get things done . Alot of time it takes me all day to do 2 hours work but that burden falls on me and not the taxpayers . Just because I cant spend 8 hours a day in the woods cutting timber dont mean I can no longer work I could still do desk work or I could be the fry guy down at Ronnies , I d be hurrting but could do it as I m sure you could , you have told on yourself many times . But if you feel that you are unable to do any gainful work so be it . In the meantime I ll stand proud knowing I can drag myself through the day without a hand out . I cant do everything I did yrs. ago but there is things I can do ! I know people that work hard every day and dont bring home as much as you and there just glad to have a job !
 
What ever I have it that doctors say I can not work so ya I have tried to find jobs but when I fill out the ap and put in what I have to by law I do not get hired. Ya you also might live in a big town etc. Don't preach to me plus is your problem caused by a crime?? Mine was and the guy got off Scot free and the gov/pa.cop did nothing and will do nothing. I payed into the system so I could when needed get back I have done my time both in the work force and also in the Military I do as much as I can just like you do but in my area your lucky to even think about finding a job when you have the limits I have which again by the way you have no clue of as I said I have to answer to one judge as you do also do not put one down who tries put the one down that doesn't and hasn't ever and there are many of them. Shoot I get less a year then what congress got in raise this year per person
 
If your on the check you aint aloud to work . Ya best watch over your shoulder , there s people in the bushes taking pictures and they would love to take your check . Your making it easy on them if they visit this forum .
 
You better go look at the laws yo udumb a$$ I can in fact work and make $750 or more a month and still get SSD as per law same with my V.A, disability. Now if you don't want to do what I have ok let me be and I'll let you be as should be done there's hundred who get a check that never even payed into the system and if the system had been left as it started it would not be in bad shape in the first place. I do what I can and try to help others so why can't you do the same or are you that bitter. I don't want to fight I was in the navy when I had to do that I'm retired now and don't want to fight here with you or others. I do my best to help other out so please if you can not help others and all you want to do is fight find some one and some place else to do so
 
You best keep your guard up Old. Appears to be varmints alot of places , not just on the Porch. I can appreciate your observations about the rural job market. It's tough in those small towns right now. No new jobs and the existing work is already taken.Hope you're shootin varmints off the porch for many years to come.
 
Bill you know you are welcome to come see me and sit back and have a cold one and watch for them varmints. Shoot as long as there off the porch and out of line of the cars etc I have a wide range of pea shooters to pick from. Some a tad bit odd at that.
 
If I may buy into this squabble....
I'm sure all those Pollies and sundry others who are raking in the $$$'s appreciate your sacrifice,trouble is there are a lot of oldies with the same misguided attitude, Just think, if you were not meant to have it,then it would not have been passed into law. Get on the list and live a little easier instead of berating those who have accepted their entitlement..
 
One word well maybe a few more. Amen I didn't want to go on SSD but what else could I do starve, go on food stamps, loose every thing I had worked for for decades??
 
Old, 110% AMEN. To see me, I look fine, but can change instantly. The longer you are able to do anything, the better off you will be. I do what I can, when I can, but take a LOT longer to do it.

Cant do it Bendee , I have work to do and have no plan to lay down , I went and did some reading and found out that the recuirments are to be unable to do ANY gainful work , thats not me or alot of people thats collecting . It has nothing to do with the fact that I cant get a job doing somthing because the employer dont want a disabled person doing it but the fact that I could do it . I m sure alot of us would make real good walmart doormen but there are just so many walmarts . The one near me has a stool for the guy to set on when he needs to . Like I said before just because I cant cut timber for 8 hrs. a day dont make me eligable for a check . I can still run my farm , it just dont run very fast have to learn how to do things , a loader is your best friend and I dont have near as much going on as there was in the past and if I had to there are things in the workforce I could do but dont mean they have to give me a job .
 
Just pick up the food when they are done. You'll learn how much they will eat pretty fast.

Those bowls are empty pretty much after 10pm or so ya they might have a bite or 2 left in them but even if they did not the coons and opossums would still be on the porch looking for food because the smell is there
 
Yep what took me an hour to do 15 years ago now takes me a day and what took me a day back then takes a week. etc etc. You also learn to use tools you didn't think you ever would use to do things and you figure out how to do things easier and smarter as in don't lift when you can use a machine to do it for you.
Oh by the way to look at me I look fine but I walk with a limp and if a person saw my in the nude they would see a good number of scares from the doctors knifes
