OT Wrangler Jeans

After reading the post for American jeans I want to respond with my experience with Wrangler jeans. I was always a customer of Wrangler jeans till about 2 or so years ago. VF jeans has moved the manufacturing of these and Rustler brands to Mexico and Honduras. Since that time they have gone from 14 ounce denim to 11 ounce denim and changed the cut and fit.
Today I ripped the crotch out of my 5th pair in less than 4 months. I sent an email to their customer service department expressing my displeasure with their products.

I am no longer a customer lf Wranglers, I don't care what Dale JR. has to say about them.

If anyone else is having a problem with their products, would you contact them at the link below... Gene

Its been a while since i bought jeans. Ma , keeps patchin the hole. I've always worn wranglers. Anyone know of a company that makes em in America? Just wonderin, Toby.

Rugged Wear, made in Mexico. I have been wearing them for about four years and have held up good.

Just give them a call & they'll ship right to your door. We had one independent mens store here that carried them but like a lot of good things they closed up so now I order them in.

I wear the cowboy cut Wranglers, and have since god knows when. They say on the tag "made in mexico of american fibers", which is irritating, but they haven't yet changed the quality of the denim on the cowboy cuts, at least not the style I buy. I have had better luck with the Wranglers than i have with key and carharts, as i have several 10 year old pairs of wranglers.

Lee jeans are even worse, the fabric seems almost rotten.. I guess the makers are saving money buy shorter- staple cotton..

Denim work pants from Deluth trading is the only way to go. They are not cheap but are great pants. I get tehm thru a local resale sho that handles seconds. They are triple sticthed seams and have a diamond pattern in teh crotch area where the 4 seams suppose to come together. I usally get teh carpenter ones which have slanted pocket openings and hammer loop on each side. Also being a farmer that gets cracked and sore fingers in teh winter they have a long pull on the fly to be eaiser to grasp.

I was at Shopko a couple years ago and walked by some corduroys on clearance for 2$ each. Some off brand with "america" in the name, but we know what that means--not made in america. The only other downfall of those pants was some minor razor blade treatment to some hems for a "cool factor." I thought what the heck, I can wear them to work and look nice and if i spill acid or oil or any other fluid on them, i wont be out as much as the 12-16$ jeans or work pants supposedly made for working that only last a week. I have one of those irony jobs in auto parts customer service where you have to look your best but do dirty stuff to help a customer and then get written up right after you did something you were supposed to because your pants now have a stain or hole in them...(the parts store's proximity to corporate office sure makes a difference i've learned)

anyway, back to the story, I get 2 pair of each color, so it's 8 pair of pants. At the checkout, i get invited to sign up for a store discount program membership and i get a dollar off of each. So for 6 or 8 dollars i have had the same work pants for 2 years and only 2 pair have noticable tears, stains, or acid holes. Finally somethin exceeded my expectations. I ended up using 3 pair for church and casual instead of work.

Wranglers are mid quality.....Levis are bad, Junk actually and all my levis have holes, rips or pockets are worn out, Levis dont last 2 years. Wranglers will last 2 years if you only lay around the house in them. CE Schimdt (sold at TSC) seems okay for the $14/pair that I paid and have held up since I bought them 3 months ago. Time will tell. I dont know what Carthartt Jeans are like, I need to buy a pair and try them out.

If you wear jeans everyday for work go to WalMart and get Faded Glory at $8.00 a pair. Made in Mexico of fairly heavy demim and just as good as the $30. or so name brands. If they only last a year your still ahead of the game.

There are two models of Wrangler jeans. The cheep ones sold by Walmart and the "Best" ones sold in western and farm stores. The best ones have the copper rivets, 5 pockets, and a leather tag on back pocket. The cheeps are lighter weight, no rivets and 4 pockets. Wally world sell for $14. Best ones run $22.

I use Dickies jeans- reasonably heavy, and they go on sale for about 8 bucks a pair from time to time at the local variety emporium. They're a "work" jean- cut for comfort, not for style. But I stopped looking good in jeans about 30 years ago, so its no problem for me.

I've noticed that dickies are sized by actual measurement. so you will need to go up a couple sizes. measure your waist with an old fashioned cloth tape ruler.
