Sunday morning suprise.

I missed krusers post yesterday. Not much new here, well... Wrigley and I stepped out the door at about 6:30 this morning. It was snowing and we had measureable snow overnight that left a fresh white blanket on things. I noticed wrigley checking out things in the yard I saw LOTS of tracks, big tracks! I headed straight to the feed lot, everyone was present and accounted for, what a relief. Confused I contiued on to start chores and walked around the corner of another shed to get the 7520 and I see something standing in the road about a 1/2 mile west. I called nick who was just heading out to the farm to help with chores and I told him to come the back way and see what was going on. Pretty soon I looked up and trotting down the road ahead of him were 11 horses. Quite a sight. They ran past my house, accross the county road and kept going. I called dad and asked him where is was at and I told him that he was about to see a herd of horses. So we continued to do chores and pretty soon I look east and here comes dad with 11 horses running in front of him. I got them turned and headed them south down the county road in front of my house, towards where they belong, then talked with dad for a bit about the horses and their owner. I figured the owner would notice them and come round them up so once again back to doing chores. I headed out with the 4230 and bale processor got to the corner and here they came on a dead run north back up the county road. I put the tractor in the middle of the road and got them headed west. We are 1 1/2 miles south of St Hwy 116 and that is where they were headed and I couldnt see that going good. A neighboor stopped and I asked him where the owner of the horses was at and he said he saw him in town. So I figure he will come along in a few minutes and find them so once again, back to chores. Nick and I went and did chores at the Higgs farm. Came back, moved some bales, ran another bale in the processor and still the horse were lingering down the road 1/2 mile west of me. So after we were all done I went and got the guy who the horses belong to out of his house and took him to where they were and watched him chase them back home. These horses and his cattle have been running a square 640 for about a month. 120 belongs to him the rest does not. They are unwanted guests. There are virtually NO fences on this mile. It is flat black farm ground. This is twice now I have went and tracked him down and told him to round up his animals and he acts totally suprised they are out. For the life of me I dont know why they ALL havent wandered off. He must not feed them, cant keep them in and quit trying. He is getting to be a pain in the butt and is going to get someone hurt with his livestock running the whole countryside.
Other than that, it was a nice day. After watching him make a butt of himself chasing horses, nick and I fixed a hot wire, did some maintennace on the manure spreader, had lunch in canton at the burger king, finshed up the spreader project, did chores, closed up the sheds and walked in the house at a nice early 4:30. I'm sitting here watching the snow right now. Wrigley is sleeping on the floor next to my chair. 6-8 inches with wind so that will make tomorrow fun. Got the tv on. Watching poker, nothing else on. Still hacked off at my neighbor! Dang fool anyway.

Sure weren't the wife and daughter's horses BBUUTT since you take such good care of them, could always take them out for some excercise!

Neighbor asked this morning if I wanted to buy them. Looked at him like he was crazy and told him I had enough problems without having horses! Those horsed covered several miles this morning. Back and forth from the Fulton, Peoria county line over two miles east to Cramer road and then about a half mile north and south of me. It was kinda enjoyable to watch them. Just somewhere other than the road would have been more appropriate.
Dang snow, I had to go out and clean the dish off! It is starting to pile up pretty quick out there. Better get your snow shovel ready.

kruser.....i may have a horse for bill. a gal that used to work for me has one of them english saddle jumping horses. she donated it a couple years ago to a youth special needs camp, but they are low on funding and gave her the horse back. i can see another road trip in the near future, but it will be kinda cramped in the cab of my pickup with that horse in there. dang thing 'll prolly wanna ride the whole way with its head hangin out the winder!!!
