JR Hobbs, aka "Mr Greenjeans", author and JD expert, has passed away.

My condolances to his family and friends.

Godspeed JR.

Very sorry to hear of his passing. I had the privelege of meeting him in Springfield and also shared some E-Mails with him. He will be missed. rw

JR was always more than kind with me and more than willing to answer any questions. His knowledge was unsurpassed in JD equipment.

He will be missed.

That's odd,I just thinking of JR Yesterday. He will be sorely missed. He was a friend who sought me out of a crowd a couple of times when I didn't see him, just to say hello and converse.
He wasn't perfect and also could be crusty on occasion if tired or prodded. I rather enjoyed some of his pointed answers as Mr. Thinker.
All the JD collectors as a whole are in JR's debt for finding, recovering and cataloging much of the data we now take for granted.

Rest in Peace, JR, was a nice guy, I met him in Springfield, probably 6 years ago, at the Two Cylinder Show, got to talk to him for a few minutes before he got busy in the booth he was manning...

I knew that he was in poor health but was still shocked to hear the sad news of his passing.I didnt always agree with him but I sure respected him. I"ve been on the internet for 10 years and I have seen numerous posts from him over the years. He will sure be missed.

RIP Mr Greenjeans

What was wrong with him, he was a young man. I have missed Don Ward very much since his passing, but this thing about JR is a shock to me.

I'm saddened to hear of J.R.'s passing. Truely a great loss for all of us and to his family my prayers.
J.R. and I came to task on a few occasions as he didn't like polished stainless on antique tractors or any tractor for that matter and he was very vocal about it at times. In one e-mail I asked him what he thought about the nice JD 830 on the cover of the October 2002 Green Magazine. He looked it up and replied that it looked very good. I told him that wasn't the first stainless muffler assembly I had slid past him over the years. He corrected me in that muffler wasn't polished! So we agreed on polished stainless and chrome are not his favorite, stainless mufflers that are black are OK. We never argued the point after that. He was always the gentleman regardless and will be sorely missed.
