The Houston long range weather reports are predicting snow flurries Wednesday morning here and snow for Dallas. The way we have started warming up here, I thought spring was on the way. We had five days of sunshine last week with drizzle and 60 degrees this morning. The sun's out at the moment, 71 degrees. I hope the next front's of short duration. It's nice to be able to walk across the lawn without getting wet feet. I hope you are drying out.

Just wet feet??? Shoot here in Missouri there are places if you step down one time to many you may end up getting a wet foot and ankle and if it was just a tad warmer you might sink to your knees LOL

hey rich, do you guys in missouri do the "arkansas two step" ? i learned that fancy dance move when i bought the property near mountain home and was clearing out the timber. on them hills, about every third or fourth step, you get one of them "roller rocks" that made your foot slip, then you take two quick steps to get your balance back!!!! before i learned the proper dance move, i wound up on my butt quite a few times!!!

I learned at a very young age to roller skate and then ice skate and also being in the navy learned to stay up right in 30 plus degree rolls so ya I can dance pretty good on slick stuff

you folks had to learn to dance pretty good I guess. Wasn't it the primary job for the navy to supply dance partners for the Marines while on ship duty?????

There were a lot of things that I can or at least once could do fairly well. Roller skating ain't one of them ... lol.

Wouldn't know Dave. The area I worked on ship sat way to high for the marines to even figure out how to get there let alone find it. Shoot you had to be able to read write and count to get up that high in the carrier.

I learned to skate back when I was 5 or 6 years old so I got good at it. I could skate forwards back wards and do a few fancy moves on them then went ice skating and found they worked the same way and only took about 30 minutes to be skating back wards on the ice and that was the very first time on ice skates

CV-62 was the Indy, CV-67 was the JFK. My brother served on the Kitty Hawk (CV-63 in 79-80. At that time the U.S. Navy had the "Tiger" program where the son or a male relative could meet the ship at Pearl and ride it to San Diego. My brother asked me if I wanted to go (both his are girls). My wife said "Go, it's the chance of a lifetime." I was never in the military, but am fascinated by carrier ops. I've been on Lexington (CV-16) twice. I had my tickets to Honolulu, and return tickets from San Diego to Houston. A week or so before the ship was to leave Subic Bay, the Iranians seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and the ship was sent to the Persian Gulf. I could have wrung that scrawny Ayatollah's neck with my bare hands. .... lol.

When i was a young feller, i learned how to roller skate at the local amusement park, and got fairly goo at it. I could skate the whole evening, and never fall down.
When i was drafted for WW II, i kept in practice at the rink in Durham, NC. Then went over to France, got wounded by a land mine, which resulted in me losing my left foot, and lots of hospital time.
When i came home, with my new foot, it took 3 days until i was down at the roller rink, strapping on my skates, and re-learning how to skate again. Only took lebenty-seven flops, but it all came back! I don't skate any more, at age 85, but i had fun while i could go, met lots of gurls!

You know the CV67 does sound better but like I said it has been 30 years since I was on board or will be July 10th of 1980 is the last time I walked off of that big flat top. Spent many hours up the mast or as some would call it the crows nest. I was always up there as the safety man. Any time some one needed to go up they needed a safety man up there to keep watch for trouble and I was always it till the last few months I was in and then I said no way would I go up there again because if something happened I might end up having to stay in longer because of being in the hospital. That made a few people mad at me but it was volitry so I could say no if I wanted to

Saturday was the first really nice day we've had at the farm in a long time. Had some sun, but no rain. Hooray!

We had 5 dry days there, too. First time in weeks you didn't hear "squish, squish, squish" when you walked across the yard. Still lots of very soft spots around and still some standing water.

Today started out cloudy with sporadic drizzle and a light shower or two. Still got some work done. We got started building an equipment shed. When its done, we'll move the tractors out from under the one that collapsed, tear that one down and rebuild it.

We'll be watching the weather on Tues. Snow and a wintery mix is in the forecast, but not supposed to be nearly as much as we got before.

Good news - spring in on its way. Saw geese Thursday and again this evening.

Took some pics of the horse trailer. As soon as James gets them downloaded from the camera, I'll post them.

Weatherman is calling for 1-2in. snow on Tuesday.

Slush will freeze overnight Tuesday causing ice on roads and bridges Wednesday morning.

Looks like I"m gonna be calling off sick on Wednesday.

Another winter mix forecast for Friday.

Hang in there; calendar shows March starting next week.

I never could get my Marine to learn how to carry my bags for me. He couldn't open a BEER can without spilling it. USS SARATOGA CVA 60

Ok I can understand that. I know the JFK was out of Norfolk VA and we did a couple med cruses and in some ways I enjoy that but in others didn't like being only able to see water. I did some work on another carrier when I was in the med and if I remember right it was the hello carrier Kitty Hawk
