OT regarding the plane crash in Austin

I understand this guy believed STRONGLY that he was a victim of taxes and or the tax system. I just wish someone (other than the IRS) could/would investigate some of his claims. Like my wife said, what if they are true...? Don't worry, I am not holding my breath on the investigation happening...! Greg

I think it was more than just the IRS he was mad at. According to the news he torched his house. With wife and daughter inside. They are ok the last I heard.

The news report said that he had been audited recently. I'm sure more will come out in a few days, but you just don't know how much to believe. Torching his house with the wife and daughter inside makes me think that this goes deeper than it first appears. It's my understanding that they had been married only a short time. I understood that the daughter was a teenager, but I'm not sure whether his or hers. I suspect that he just snapped and went off the deep end.

One of my closest friends had trouble with the IRS about a year ago. Called them out to his nursery property, and ate his .357 in front of them.

Many of his complaints are common occurences. We certainly have mulitple standards in this country for just about everything. That includes law enforcement, land use, the IRS, local regs, banking, and taxation, etc. Outcomes of equal events often depend on who you are and/or who you know. Anybody that expects equity and fairness univerally is doomed to disappointment. But, I'd rather try to work around such things, or at times lay low, then fly a plane into a building just to make a point.

After reading the well-written statement though, I'm wondering one thing. How did this guy afford to buy a plane - or did he just make a down payment on it with crashing in mind?

No offense, I know what you ment! the letter e in the word then should be an a. Official people could misread what you have said. Jim

Latest news reports that I have seen say his wife and step daughter were NOT inside when he torched it, They had a fight about midnight, and they left to go to a motel. Fire was set about 6:30 - 7:00 am. He had a airplane and a high end house. Sounds to me like he was just someone who could not take responsability for his bisness failure and was looking for someone to blame it on.

The guy was an absolute nut case. He was trying to avoid taxes by claiming his house was a church. He claimed his piano as one of the assets. I guess he really showed them. What a dope. Too bad he already passed on some of his DNA.

Whether he was right or wrong, I can understand his frustration.Because of some bad decisions, a few years ago, I ended up owing X amount of dollars in taxes. After 2xX in interest and 2xX in penalties I ended up owing quite a large sum of money. I tried for a long time to come to an agreement on an arrangement to pay this debdt off. The only answer I got from the IRS from repeated phone calls was, " JUST SEND THE MONEY" End of phone call!!

And what exactly does this have to do with tractors... I can't believe we are talkin about govenment on this site... It is forbidden..... please stop...
My 2 cents worth is, if you have never dealt with the IRS then shut your Pie Hole you have no idea what you are dealing with until you do!! I have and 2 of my close friends of years ago did. One died in a car crash driving to fast trying to stay ahead of the azzholes trying to repo his seeding company stuff..

I'm not a Shrink, but it must have been really bad for him in his mind. We can all try to second guess what his motives were, but only he knew. Every one of us has a breaking point & I guess that he reached his. Really sad. Just my thoughts, Keith

I'm with the statment that untill you deal with the IRS you have no opinion. The IRS is no different than a bad cop, or anyone else who has been dealt power over some one else.

Another point is there are far more suicides than most folks realize, ask all EMS folks, we are not allowed to discuss these issues, ony in general.

Once you back a man in a corner, take everyting away he has or owns (in his mind), then you have set him free. And most will come out of that corner. Temporary mental illness is something you can not use the terms, reasoning or common sence in deqaling with it. As a child we thought life would stop if someone took our toy away, then later on in life a dear John put many a man in the (death will be better) state of mind. The right series of events can fix the issues if all the cards fall right.

There are many home town war heros that the truth will never surface--- ask any combat man, not a Army cook, desk man, or anyone who speaks of their combat for that matter. Only good can come to a family who thinks their loved one died for freedom, it would be unspeakable for them to know the truth. I call it the few times in life that a lie is a good thing.

Perhaps some day depression will be cured with a simple pill, at this time in life we have not a clue in most cases. I often wonder if the righ friend could have made a differance.

Why worry so much about guys named Muhammed when we have nut jobs like this going around hurting people?

They are saying that the FBI has offices in the building next door, it this is true, then he crashed into the wrong building.

The IRS is the only place in the USA where you are guilty & have to prove you are innocent. IRS agents have only one responsabilty & that is to collect money & they can use any means they desire. It is a terrible system in a free country.

I made a statement in a previous post that the IRS should change their image and I want to make thinks clear that I in no way condone the activities of this guy but I do think the IRS does need to put a strong effort into sensitivity training for their employees as to phone etticate (spelling) and customer relations god knows the government certainly spends money more needlessly. IMHO

Government and the IRS is very tractor related. When they take all your money, then you have none left over to fix or buy old tractors. Pretty darned simple. No money, No tractors.

Doesn't it make you long for the good old days when a loser would still be a man about it and just take his own life. What is it with people nowdays that they have to try to take the lives of innocent people with them when they turn out the lights.

Sorry to hear that Gordo. There has to be a better way. There are no winners in that situation but they still get their money. At least he didn't take any innocents with him. I'm sure you wish you could have had a chance to talk some sense into him.

Seems like there has been a rash of murder-suicides going on over marital/divorce problems. Some of them take out the kids to and the kids didn't even ask to be born to start with. Such a tragedy. Just get a divorce, move on, and start over.

And Gordo, you are a sharp guy who has been around. Us vets and others learn to just roll with the punches, count our blessings, and just be glad to be alive. We've got to many friends who aren't alive that we all wish they could be.

There isn't any of us who aren't just 2 seconds away from having a heart attack, developing cancer, having an accident, or some other fatal malady. Life is too short to get all worked up over a few grand in retirement.

Me? I grew up poor going for days without food. Slept under the stars plenty while in the army. If the government took every thing I had, guess I could make it sleeping under bridges with the rest of the homeless.

No matter where I look, there is always someone worse off than me. Makes it hard to complain.

Careful Gene,
The powers to be will give you a time out, or sit you in a corner if you cross the line. The gov. and tractors have nothing to do with each other on this site. I repeat don't cross the line, there are cry babies on here that will rat you off if you don't follow the rules.
Yes i fly also. Hey isnt it a shame the 911 planes didn't hit some IRS building, or Mcveigh didn't do his deed on one? I wonder if we would be hearing a different tune if that had happened.. And yes i would feel bad for the employees..
Little fact about the IRS. The irs will not stand behind their employees if you file a personallaw suit against the agent that is trying to ruin your life. Screw his day up and see what happens with your case... Have a friend that quit the irs many years ago for that reason....
