A new family started coming to our church last fall, Dad, Mom, and 2 kids, boy and a girl. Talking to them after church, found out the 12 year old boy loves tractors. SO, I have been taking a couple of tractor magazines each week to church and sending them home with him and he brings them back next week and I take him a couple more. Last Saturday, I was going to a tractor show at the mall in galesburg, Ill. and I asked if he wanted to go with me. OF COURSE!!
Here is the happy lad after I took hin to Arby's for a roast beef sandwich and fries. We met up with olblu at the mall and he brought him a camo hat. One happy kid!!! Chris

Good for you and the young fellow!

Be sure to give him equal time with the green/yellow tractors.

Thanks for sharing your photo with us and keep up the good work.

Well,I have to admit that I'm trying to lean him towards Olivers, but his Dad has a 8n Ford that he gets to drive once in a while, so that's his favorite right now. BUT, give me a little time and maybe I can sway him a little. Thanks, it was fun for both of us. Chris

Excellent job Chris! Sorry I missed the Galesburg show, but we went down to Lincoln to see the folks.
BBBUUTT, here's my little tractor driver - before I sold it for one of billonthefarm's friend!

Travis - you there?

James,
You and Nancy ever tried an Oliver? Might want to pick one up for the "herd"!

PS: Don't listen to the glennster - then everything will be Red or PINK.

Jim - but you can call me James

Last weekend, we took our two grand-daughters to the Farm Machinery Show at Louisville. A 2-1/2 and a 5 year old girl that have lived their life in a big city, you would think they would be bored. They had a ball. The older one can sing most of "my big green tractor" and did a good job of it at the Oliver Heritage booth. I tried to find hats or shirts for them with Olivers. Maybe some day.

The more I think about it, why don't we:

1) Share our tractors and experiences to the younger and/or older folks who would love to see it/them?

2) Share with a child or older person. I know Chris is and I am a Christian! Bet they enjoy it!

3) Be nice to EVERYONE.

4) You add!

On rare occasions we might see an Oliver on one of our "road trips".

We have never considered purchasing one; however, they are good looking tractors in their own way.

Don't be too hard on [b:654c4848f0]glennster[/b:654c4848f0]; he has diversified to a JD #5 sickle mower and either a 14T or 24T square baler.

Attaching that old JD mower or old JD square baler to of any of his bright, shiny red tractors will double their value!

Don't tell him this, but I would consider buying my dad's Farmall Super C from my neighbor.

Somehow, someway I could deal with the embarrassment/shame of mixing a red tractor in with the green ones.

I am getting a little concerned about his fascination with PINK; you keep an eye on him.

I've taken my 6 yr old nephew to the MMOGTA show in Oakley, Michigan. He really had a ball, got to ride on a steam tractor, and spent a lot of time looking at old machines. Sadly, he seems to be developing into a Deere guy. I did the best I could, but he really like the green stuff. I don't know where I went wrong.

Well, good for you. He looks like a pretty happy young fellow.

When I was a couple of years older than he is now I met up with an elderly gent who has a collection of about 25 vintage tractors, anyway to make a long story short, he invited me round for a visit. Several hours and one tractor ride later I was hooked.

It's been ten years and over 10 tractors (of my own - goodness only knows how many others I've worked on) since then.

A friend of mine has a couple of very young sons, the elder of which is machinery mad. I lent them a tractor this winter to plow snow with and the little fellow thought Christmas had come early.

Half of the fun of this hobby is spreading the joy.
