Been SKUNKED

The dogs cornered a skunk in my shop the other night. 3 of the four got sprayed pretty bad. Wife brought home "skunk-off" from the vet office she works at. Worked pretty good. Problem is my shop got sprayed worse than the dogs. Anybody have a good formula I can put in a garden sprayer and spray down my shop with??

i had one get in the garage and let loose. i tossed a couple boxes of moth balls in there. took about a week or so to get the stink out.

We've used a concoction on the dogs I found listed on the internet. 1qt Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of dish washing detergent mixed in a bowl. We out on rubber gloves, and old clothes and bathed them with this. Let it stay about 10-15 minutes, and rinse off. The Black Lab still had a little odor around his face, as we did not put it on their snout near the eyes. On humid rainy days, you would get a very slight whiff again. We used this on the side of the house where they were sprayed, and it knocked it down. Again, on a humid or rainy day, you'd get a very light whiff, but SO MUCH better than it was.

You might try spraying the area with febreeze (sp?) fabric freshener. I know that sounds weird but a couple of years ago my dog got sprayed at my back door. The smell came into our house and when the central heat came on it was all over the house. It was so bad I thought we would have to leave for a few days. I decided I would try spraying the central air filter and it worked! Very well as a matter of fact and fast.

Get a few boxes of baking soda and spread it around the spray area. Vacuum it up in a couple weeks.

PAUL N's recipe works, we have to use it at least twice a week, our newest, a bassett hound mix [ rescued dog] actually seeks out skunks, i think the stuborn little turd actually tries to play with them, like they were another dog, his second fight of the day is when its time to clean him up, but that recipe works great, probably spray wash the shop walls with it let it sit and rinse off will make it much better
