Ok so how many of you have chickens?? So then have you ever had one that for some reason one had one foot??
So here is the deal. I had a hen hatch out a few late this year as in around Nov. Well one of them for some reason or the other has lost one of its feet. It gets around ok in the chicken house , it hasn't gotten out yet like its sister/brother has. So have any of you seen this before and any body have an educated guess as to why it lost its foot. Ya it did have 2 at one time and one day I noticed that one of its feet was just hanging on by a tread then it lost it all the way

We did have the occasional chicken freeze a foot off. Of course, that was in the dead of winter in northwest North Dakota. And they survived quite nicely, walking around on their "stumps".

That is what I figured may have happened to this one. We have had some nights that have gotten pretty cold but it is in a house with a heat lamp but since it is an old camper trailer for there house maybe the flood is still cold enough to have caused that

Hey OLD. Sell em to Kentucky fried chicken. Wont make any difference to em at all. lol Thought they bought CHERNOBEL (sp) it's already cooked . lol. Talk about fast food??

We had a little bird at our bird feeder for several years that had just one leg. It hopped around just fine. I don't remember if it was a chickadee or a nuthatch or what.

Lost its foot in an unfortunate accident. Owner was pursuing an opposum or a raccoon (not certain which)- fired a .410 pistol at the varmint- shot went astray, and whisked away one leg of the chicken. Chicken has been doing the best it can, hasn't complained and hasn't implicated the owner. Recommend you just let things ride- don't ask too many questions.

Probably froze off. We used to have Muskovy ducks, probably the dumbest and meanest feathered animals known to man. They would sleep outside in the winter and freeze their feet off. Or they would sleep in the creek and be frozen in the next morning.

Agree on the muscovys. Those have got to be some of the toughest and meanest birds I have seen. Yes they were mean. The two big drakes ended up in the freezer. If I didnt they would have killed each other.

we used to raise some muscovys when i was little. polish family used to buy them and make not sure of the spelling but sounded like char-knee-na. it was a blood soup. they also made a sausage called kisk-ka, blood sausage. real peppery and had rice in it. never did try the char-knee na.
we also rasied mallard and roen ducks, chinese and emden geese, turkeys, rabbits and chickens.

It just doesn't get any better than this. I am envisioning in my mind old standing on his porch in a bath rob a 44 mag in one hand and a one legged chicken under the other arm blasting away at critters on the porch in the dark to learn he just locked himself out in the cold.

Should have read the snow mushroom report yesterday.

You know I'm still trying to figure out how my chicken lost a leg when all I said was foot which to me is no where near the same thing. LOL You know that part that comes out at the bottom of a chickens leg that has 3 toes. Ya and now that I have a trap set on the porch that coon will probably not show up

I have never seen a mean duck but I have had some real real mean geese. Years ago I had a guy getting gravel out of the creek and he would stop now and then to talk to me. I had a Chinese white goose that was very mean and the guy loved to tease it. Well one day that goose got him in the jewels and boy did that guy jump around for a bit. He was just about ready to go after the goose when I told him no he was teasing it so you got what you should have. So guess the guy got teased back LOL

When I was a youngster we raised several hundred chickens. The chicks where canabalistic. They would peck a weak one to death. I guess one of the big ones wanted a snack and went for a chicken leg. We had a one legged chicken but it was the result of a weasel trying to pull it through a knot hole. I think i'll skip breakfast.

Had a hen that we called nubbins . Both her legs froze off ot the knees . She did nt hang with the other chickins but hungout with the dogs , she got around fine , she was just a little closer to the ground !!

I've cought Squirrels, Cats, Possum and Coons
in the live trap, but only the Possums crap in
there and I have to hose it out. Dumb Possums!
