Most likely, never, I also have a 84 k20 chevy I wanna restore, Wife wants me to get rid of, but I wont let go of that, or my 73 GMC. lol

Stan, a little of everything, Sugar maple, oak, beech, and hickory ;). And some red maple ;(

I wish I had them in a pile like that (on the ground) instead of standing vertical in my woods. What'd you do, buy a truckload of tops and culls from a local logger?

Well not tops, but yes culls from a campground they were clearing land at, for a golf course...
You know, I gotta keep that Thermo Control 400 fed! Right, lol.

Yeah, my 500 has been going non-stop all winter (in my barn and workshop) along the my Woodchuck furnace in the house. For the first time in years, I might run out of wood. Keeping two fires going all winter takes a bit of wood. I'm thinking of cutting down some ash since it's about the only green wood that will burn.

I hear you JD, I dont know if you saw my pics a few days ago of the ash I cut down, that one was dead thought. But as I read, ash burnt green or dry, a king can warm his slippers by! LOL. Its 9 degres were I am right now. Stay warm JD. J

What's wrong with red oak? Looks like you have some Cherry too. I prefer Hickory but that stuff is hard on chains and there aren't too many in the fence rows.

Years back my dad bought a few trailer loads of logs - he was able to get a real good price due to low demand for the cull logs and a short haul for the log truck to here - it was amazing how much less time you have to spend on a winters worth of wood that way compared to cutting it out of the woods , especially if they can set the logs near where you stack your wood. Now there seems to be a better demand for cull logs and trucking is more costly so its probably 25-30 years since we bought any logs that way.
