Hey folks,
Awhile back folks were asking about these things and I was bragging and recommending... if anyone got one based on my advice, I's real sorry....

Just was looking at an electric bill and comparing numbers (stopped using ours last month). I was feeding that thing electricity with 2 spoons and a shovel......... with only two people in the house and it only heating tap water (shower/sink). Still got it in place as an emergency backup, but never again a main source. Oil would have been considerably cheaper.

Some of them are very poorly designed, and heat all the time to make instant hot water. some only heat when it is moving and take 3 or 4 seconds to provide heat. They can be great. Researching the brands and efficiency tells the story. JimN

I replaced my electric tank water heater last year with a tankless. Baaaaaad mistake. Any thing that changes water pressure i.e. washing machine, commode, pump on or off, and you really get a thrill while in the shower. You never know whether it will be a slug of ice water or hot enough to take feathers off chickens. Gas units may be better. I don't know or care. I'm going back to a storage tank PDQ. TDF

i put in a Bosch propane tankless water heater for my neighbors and theyre happy with it...doesnt use much gas at all,and plenty hot water when and where they need it.

I replaced my gas tankless with an electric one in January. The gas was about 7 years old and it froze up one time too many. The furnace would come on and back draft the water heater. Mine is rated for the whole house lots of water, as for the cost, when you turn on 3 40amp heating elements you are going to use some electric. The new gas won t freeze but cost 500.00 more to buy.
