we had alltel for about 4 years really liked it good service, fair rates, verizon buys alltel the service gets worse, I'm talking lost calls and poor signal, our contract was running out we called them to see why we had less service, well they said they didn't buy all the towers from alltel, well we told them we were going to cancel when contract ran out unless we could get a lot cheaper plan, well of course they couldn't do that so,we canceled it.we bought prepaid tracfones which we really like.so now we are getting all this mail from verizon stating what great plans they have, they even called us trying to get us back, offering 10 dollars of any plan and 1 month free, they even gave us a special (win me back number to call)IMAGINE THAT !!!!

why did you change??? you could still keep your Alltel. they wanted me to change all our phones [11] at about 20 bucks more each [contract was up] told them i was go some place else then out comes well you can keep Alltel for same price and get all new phones for free so all 11 phones are still alltel and have not lost any service but friend next door changed and lost reception

I didn't want to change! how could you still keep alltel when verizon bought alltel ? guess I don't understand, my bill was coming from verizon!

I've heard that a lot of companies have a retention department, and to ask for that when you're thinking about cancelling their service. They're able to do more on an individual basis to keep your business.

Here, Verizon has treated us fairly since their takeover of Alltel.
I had a good plan with Alltel and was afraid Verizon might make us go to one of their rate plans once they took over, but they didn't.

A few years back, we had a good plan on AT&T. But when Cingular took over they let us temporarily keep our old plan, but when we needed new phone's, they were going to make us upgrade to a more expensive plan. I don't think their retention department would have helped in that instance, since they were doing the same to all their old AT&T customers.
I dropped them and went to Alltel. We also got Alltel's unlimited wireless home internet service.

Verizon has let us upgrade our phones without changing to a higher plan. And so far, they have let us keep our unlimited internet access plan.
But if they ever put a stop to that, we'll have to change providers.

I have had Alltel for about ten years and still do. About two years ago I switched over to pay by the month. And I still have it plus got a new phone for a few extra dollars which I needed bad.It costs me 29.95 plus tax a month and I can call anywhere in US or Canada ---no long distance. But there are a couple roaming spots like in the montains and so on. Service has remained the same.

My wifes bill still comes from Altel. They (Altel) are still in some areas, but Verizon determined that. She was going to change to Verizon, but they still claim we owe them 3 bucks from when I dropped them almost 4 years ago, and I refuse to pay it because some stupid powder puff who thought she was better than me wouldnt get off her duff and fix it.....
