Fast Hitch Help

OK, I need help.

Is it possible to adjust a fast hitch to [i:51301f19a9]float[/i:51301f19a9].... that is, not have any down pressure??

I just bought an Arp's Snow Blower:

The manual says not to use down pressure with the fast hitch.

It's on an IH utility.

Thanks for the help.

It's been many years, but check and see if there is an easily removed pin on each arm. It should let you raise the implement, but put no down pressure on implement when removed. See if I'm right or if my memory is gone. Gary

My 300 has a vertical shaft on the left side that lifts the hitch.

This shaft has a pin in it, goes through a scewed on top collar.

Take the pin out, and the lift will float up & down that vertical shaft.

Would it be the same set up as setting the hitch for plowing?? You switch about 3 or 4 pins around for that. Seems like it still has down pressure though.

I have the tractor manual, but there is nothing about this in it.

Thanks, Tim

You've got it, we had an Arps on a 560D. Worked pretty good on all but slushy stuff. Is your hitch full of dirt or maybe even rusted Gary

OK, Thanks Paul & Gary. I found the hitch adjustments online for plowing. I've never actually done it though. I'll fool with it in the morning.

Thanks again.... that was fast!!

Tim K in NW Ohio ~ Who never really fooled with fast hitches.

By the way you don't have to take the vertical arm out. You can choose whether you want that blower to move horizontally or not with that single pin, it was on the left side on ours. Gary

Yeah, it looks like you change it from the [i:98d996d292]front to back[/i:98d996d292] hole to the [i:98d996d292]sideways[/i:98d996d292] hole.... it all makes sense now.

I'm can't wait to try out the blower, everything I could find said they worked well with smaller HP tractors. Last Sunday, the day after we got it home, it hit 50 degrees..... we lost all teh snow we had. We got an inch the middle of last week with wind so it filled all the ditches, I can still see every stone in the driveway.

Any tips on running the blower??

Tim

Pretty straight forward, with know hydraulic spout, you usually end up setting it so your not sitting in a blizzard and blow in one direction. In slush, we used it like a blade and just pushed it. We only forgot to clean the slush out of the blower once. It's kind of like my doctor told me about carrying my nitro pills, you forget and you may only do it once. Gary

I understand, I learned pretty young about cleaning the manure spreader in the winter. Replacing the shear pin was the easiest part of that task.

To this day, I always throw it in gear before I fill the first load of the day.

Gary, if you are so inclined, click the PM button and shoot me your email address..... I might need to tap your knowledge base in the future.

We are going to need a picture of your Fast Hitch unit. There are at least 2 different versions of Fast hitch out there. All of them have a pin you can remove that allows them to float. But one version uses a pin in the right side lift arm, the other has a pin near the bottom of the cylinder on left hand side.

I will see if pics work, but the pin tou are looking for is ahead of the bottom pin on the cylinder. I took pics from the rear of tractor.jim

I circled the pin on this pic for you, this is on a 350U. jim

So this is the only pin I have to remove to make it float?? There were 4 or 5 pins you had to switch around for plowing. I'll see if I can post that.

Tim K in NW Ohio ~ Hoping it's only one pin....

I found this someplace on the web awhile back. Somebody posted it for setting up a plow.

Pin "A" should be removed. The 2 pins "B" should be in the rear set of holes so the sockets can flex.Pin "C" in the sideways hole(not front to back).Pin"D" on the rear hole(the hole that lets hitch sway from side to side).

Should I just pull the one pin or make all these adjustments??

Thanks for the help...... I'll get it someday. :?

Tim K in NW Ohio ~ Glad somebody out there has the answers.... and is willing to share.

just pull the pin I marked for float.the other pins are for plowing, it will allow the arms to kink so the plow points will dig in.I think all you want is float. jim

Thank you very much, Jim. That is exactly the info I was hoping to get. I got my 3 point adaptors back from the welding shop this afternoon and it's snow right now...... maybe I'll get to play in the morning.

Thanks again to everybody who took the time to answer. I owe you one..... or more.

Tim K in NW Ohio ~ Looking forward to morning....
